Did I understand the "funnel" right?

So after registering here and forgetting about IM completely for about a year, only the occasional visits to look at boobs, I decided to do things more seriously now. Now that I have matured and stuff. :D

However, ONE way of doing this is, from what I've gathered, building your landingpage. Then you create content on legitimate pages (EzineArticles, Hubpages, Squidoo and so on), and then, by whatever means, create tons of backlinks/traffic to those pages (buying xrumer blasts on this board, for example). From there, the people able to read english and interested in the topic go to your landingpage, (perhaps opt-in to your email list) and click through to the salespage of the offer you promote.

Did I get that correctly? And I presume you would best do that in some niches that have international attention, like the usual get rich quick stuff (since you probably get tons of backlinks/traffic from low quality areas of the world, I guess).

Don't think that there is only one way to do things...there are literally hundreds, thousands of things you can do. But what you listed is a pretty standard, just don't be afraid to use your own mind and try new and random things, get creative. Essentially for SEO you simply need a website with unique content (a simple landing page in your example) which needs to be optimized (keyword in HTML title tag, H1 tag, etc) and then get a ton of backlinks pointing to your site (like you said, EzineArticles, Xrumer blasts, etc).

btw T>Z :)

Yeah that is one way. Basically some people have their main money maker and it is kind of crappy as far as it's ability to make it in the SERPS so they get other pages or their other sites high in the SERPS with a focus of directing traffic to their landing page which is optimized to convert sales. So you have the funnel sites converting traffic to your money page which converts the sales.

Yep that's a good way to leverage the authority of other domains for some quick ranking pages. I like how ezinearticles show how many views an article has, so if you see it in the search results for a term you want to target, then you can see exactly how much traffic it's already pulled in for that and any other relevant keywords
