[DAILY JOURNAL] - Going Full-Time

I seriously think it will be a brilliant idea... Write your own success story. Create a 30-40 page Ebook and then start selling it. You can use adwords etc.. to promote your ebook. But anyways, great to hear your story.. I have a similar blog. If you get time, check it out. http://www.affiliateguru.org Will come back again to check this thread.

Ha - maybe after I actually have some success to write about I could make a book, but I'm light years away from that point right now!

Checked out your site, good stuff. How long did it take you to get your health related site ranking and earning adsense income? I am going to begin promoting my 20 niche sites next week.

Took me less than a month to actually start earning. Am on the 2nd page now for the main keyword for that adsense site. Still, have to go a long way as the competitors are .gov and .edu sites. The affiliate site I mentioned there, has hit the 1st page for the Main keyword yesterday. You can subscribe to my Blog feeds if you want. Good luck with your journey.

April 15

- niche sites are finished, I checked my piwik install that is tracking all of them, and two sites already picked up a couple long tail searches in their niche.......weird since I have not done any promotion!

- spoke with a couple potential SEO clients, but no sales today. probably for the better since I wanted to get my niche sites done.

- big weekend ahead (personal life stuff) so not looking like will be productive, so will hopefully begin promotion of the niche sites next week. of course, will respond to any questions and take on any SEO work that comes to me.

April 15, 2011 Income Summary
Adsense $0.16

Still slow, but was a productive week and hopefully can get my sites ranking quickly to start picking up the income!

April 16-17

Weekend time again, so didn't plan to get much done. Will be starting SEO work on my niche sites Monday (today when I write this update).

A customer did contact me to get some SEO work done, so I ended up doing some work after all even though I had planned on taking the day off. Can't take time off when money is to be made! (especially when you're in my boat not making anything!)

April 16-17 INcome Summary
SEO Services $30.00
Adsense $0.04
Total $30.04

Question (as I begin promoting my niche sites today): Does anyone have any warnings for link building now after the Panda Update? I still can't find anything definative to determine if the update to the algo impacts on-page SEO elements, or has to do with off-page (backlink profile) as well. Any help greatly appreciated!

(my thoughts)
- At first I thought the update I thought google was trying to determine "article" sites. Ie. websites where every page is roughly 400-600 words, no images, no videos, and always has 2-5 outbound links (ie. update considered only on-page SEO)

- Given the above, I think that sites such as Ezines would have lost ALL of their traffic (not just 35%), so now I am wondering if the update looks at deeplinks? I mean, why would some of the articles still rank and others not? I am thinking that if the articles have lots of backlinks, they stay ranked.

Either way, I don't think this should impact my promotion methods, as my niche sites include images, videos and I tried to make the posts on average more than 800 words long.

Still, anyone else opinion is definitely welcome!

Link Pyramids are working great even after the Update. Whether do you web 2.0, social bookmarking, or High PR profile backlinks, do remember to Create Link Pyramids with a couple of Xrumer Blasts as 2nd and 3rd tier.

Thanks for the response. I have a nice list of 20K forums I'll have to start scrubbing for PR and do-follow profiles to make use of. Also pulled together a list of 9K directories yesterday.

As these are niche sites I want to rank them with as minimal effort/cost as possible.

Thinking the following:
Tier 1
- 1000 directory submissions (ideally all PR1 or higher)
- 150 High PR profiles (PR4 or higher)
- 1000 social bookmarks (domain and inner pages)
- 100 Article Site submissions (high PR directories, human spun articles)
- 100 blog postings to my blog network

Tier 2
- DFB (or equivalent) to all my Tier 1 URLs

Tier 3
Backlink Energizer all Tier 1 and Tier 2 urls

From there I will review my progress in the SERP's and assess how much more (or less I need) based on the 20 different niches I selected and the competition factors I have recorded for them.

Minus: 1000 directory submissions (ideally all PR1 or higher) as most of them will not be approved so easily. Rather get 100 approved directory submission. You can find it in the SBT section in WF.

Add:
Angela and Paul type profile Linkwheel and web 2.0 property link wheels.

Excellent thread so far. I'm literally in exactly the same position. Quit my corporate job, setup a business plan and so forth. I even offer 'website management' services to local businesses to fund the development of my passive income.

As you can imagine I'm keen to see how this works out for you and will certainly be keeping track of this thread.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the response. I have a list of about 1000 forums PR4+ I scraped a couple months back. Will have to see how many of them still goin, I can use for the profile link wheels.

Spent today scraping web directories I could use for my approved directory list, ended up getting about 10K different directories. Went through it, about 6,000 were actually dead/expired domains, or charged a feed, the remaining 3,000 about 300 it looks like were automatically approved. Going to go through and sort the final 3,000 by PR and still submit to anything PR4 and higher, along with my 300 auto-approve directories.

Awesome news on quitting the corpoarte job! For me there hasn't been a second of regret! (mind you, its only been 18 days now!)

April 18, 2011
- spent most of the day scraping, cleaning, vetting my directories submission list. Hopefully when everything is said and done, I have about 300-500 dirtories I can go to that auto-approve my submission.
- since I had scrapers running most of the day, I spent alot of time working on cleaning up a couple of the Niche sites that have already started recieving traffic from google (I have no idea how, unless I maybe I picked niches that were not completitive enough!)

April 18, 2011 Income Summary

$0.00 - No adsense, no SEO!

Great so far. Keep it up.

Thanks!

April 19/20
The last two days been the two busiest days so far. Refined my directory lists to about 300 that are auto-approve, and another couple hundred with good PR that I'll submit to also in hopes that I get my link accepted. Since I have been submitting to thousands, I had no idea which ones were accepted and which ones were not (and had not desire to spend hours checkin emails). So....wrote a nice little script that checks each directory to see if my link has been accepted. Will run the script after 7 days, and all the directories that accepted within the 7 days will make my "A-list" going forward for submissions.

Through all the mess, got about 6 of my sites submitted. Amazing, already seeing some traffic for 3 of my sites (no clicks to offer yet, so will have to focus on improving the site monetization once traffic is up and consistent).

Also been working on my own personal blog, as I want something (like this thread) that I can look back on once I've "made it" :P

April 19/20 Income Summary
Two most productive days and nothing to show :(

Also, realized I am going to need to start tracking my SEO results. As I am still in start-up mode, I'm avoiding all costs possible. I have a sescout account, but its only good for 10 keywords. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good SERP tracker?

SeoBook has a firefox toolbar, comes with a ranktracker and a bunch of other handy stuff. You have to run the ranktracker manually but you can export results to csv so it's pretty good for keeping track of everything even if it is kind of a pain in the ass to run it if you have a lot of sites. Sweet thread so far btw

Hey, I wouldn't worry about checking Adsense everyday and seeing a zero. I think the best way to approach it is to increase the time length as last 30 days, then you can see your development in a clearer context.

The best way to measure progress on my sites is through traffic and keep improving your pages!

Thanks, I will check out the toolbar. Also looking at DP's free keyword tracker - anyone ever use that? (I know, anything DP is taboo here)

Agreed, but want to keep track daily as its early, after a couple months will start looking at weekly, and eventually on a daily basis.

April 21, 2011

Got another 6 sites submitted to directories, only another 8 to go. I have family coming from out of country to stay with me for the next 3 weeks, so will be slow progress unfortunately. Hopefully will be able to find a couple hours every evening to continue backlink campaigns for the sites, but imagine productivity will be low.

Already seeing low levels of traffic coming into some of my Clickbank niche sites, so hopefully will start seeing some revenues on those soon.

April 21 Income Summary
Adsense $0.07

April 22-23

Bit of a delayed catch up as my family arrived, visiting from out of country. As such work is going to take a huge hit over the next couple of weeks while they are here, as I was play "tour guide" for my family (their first time visiting south america, where I live). I hope to find some hours here and there to get some stuff done, but won't be able to devote entire days to building out my empire.

Got another 2 sites submitted to link directories over the last 2 days. I really want to get all my directory submissions done so I can see how much of an impact it has on my niche sites before moving onto other link building methods. I am already seeing long-tail traffic across the board (but no CB sales yet!).

That's all for now, have to keep these updates short as I want to spend as much time as possible working on the directory submissions!

April 22-23 Income Summary
Adsense $0.25

It's nice having the family here, but seriously cramping the time I need to keep gridin'!

MY SEO sales thread has been burried, which is probably for the best right now as I wouldn't be able to complete any client work as it is.

No other real work to report. Part of the family leaves today, so will hopefully be able to find some extra hours in the coming days to get my niche sites ranking, and revive my SEO service!

Income Summary
April 24 - Adsense $3.17
