I've tried paying for traffic on a couple ad networks a few times now, and here's the typical scenario:

  1. Deposit $100
  2. Traffic Runs to my LP
  3. I get roughly 200 clicks on ads, but T202 shows only 50 - 100 visitors
  4. Click through to offer is about 5 clicks
  5. Try tweaking a couple things and repeat with similar results
This goes without saying, but these are abysmal results. However, my background is in SEO and organic search to my LPs have anywhere from 30 - 50% CTR. So... I don't think it's my LP.

There may be 2 things going on that I can think of:

  1. Visitors are coming too fast and putting too much load on the T202 database (self-hosted), and not accurately tracking. Is that possible?
  2. I'm on a shared hosting account and it's not holding up with traffic.
I've had days with 50,000 visitors to one of my blogs from organic search, and my hosting never failed. So I'm hesitant to believe that this is the case.

Am I a fool for being on shared hosting and need to grow up and get a dedicated server? Or is it normal for traffic from ad networks to have such shitty CTR?

I'm desperately trying to get away from SEO, but no such luck thus far.

damnnn with 50,000 visitors WTFFFF you should own a station of servers,
If you could conver even 1% of those 50,000? that'd 500 clients,
500 X 10$ for a shity ebook = 5000$.
that's crazy man or you do have a problem with your tracking LOL

about the PPC failure, there could be several reasons, starting from a bad ad copy,
ending with a fucked up product, try PPC coach, or make some more reads on ppc.

LOL. That's not a consistent 50k a day... it's a fluke that happens a few times a year. On Yahoo's home page they have their featured articles with a link to "search for more" on that topic. There's a particular term they use every now and again where I'm the #1 result. I'm shocked that Yahoo could send that much traffic, but yeah - those were good days. I quickly tweaked my home page an got a shit ton of recurring revenue ClickBank sales + email subscribers.

On those random days my hosting has held up - very surprisingly.

I suppose it could be the ad copy. The product converts well with SEO and 8% on network.

My bad... had to look at analytics to double check. The last big one was just under 20k visitors, not 50k. But still, my $100 sent under 200 visitors in a short period of time.

I should clarify that this wasn't through PPC on one of the big 3, but traffic through an ad network.

i also have shared hosting and use p202 and i can tell you for sure that there's nothing wrong with your server/hosting.
