Craigslist.com: PR8

url http://www.craigslist.com has PR 8, but it re-directs to http://sfbay.craigslist.org/ which has PR 0!

If I post my url on the SF Bay site of Craigslist, I place my site url on a 0 PR or still PR 8?

On a different forum someone else mentioned a while ago the following:

"Go to http://www.craigslist.com (make sure you add the "s" in there or you will wind up at a porno site) Once there, go to the SF Bay site and post an advertisement to your web site with your link included. Make it a legitimate advertistment in the proper category. The SF Bay site of Craigslist is a PR8 site and it gets spidered regularly. You will find that you will be indexed within a matter of a day or so AND you will see phenominal results in the MSN search engine. DO NOT SPAM THE SITE!!!"

Just wondering here what will be the case...

Thanks! :)

first of all, craigslists.com doesn't redirect to anywhere. it's just a search portal and a mis-spelling. (you posted the wrong URL)

craigslist.com (pr8) DOES redirect to sfbay.craigslist.org (which is a pr0)

the problem is it uses a 302 (temporary) redirect, as opposed to a 301 (permanant redirect, which 'supposedly' passes along PR & backlinks). so technically, the 302 doesn't pass along anything so it would still be a PR0....'technically'

there are several other subdomains like phoneix, san diego, tuscon etc. that have PR7's (which actually display on the little green bar) so why wouldn't you just post on those?

having said all this, i post on craigslist frequently and think this theory is a load of shit. (maybe it used to help MSN rankings, but so did sitewide signature links) plugging your site with one craiglist link *might* get you indexed, but isn't going to make or break your SEO efforts in google or MSN

(not to mention thousands of people do this everyday anyway....)
(also, not to mention, these links are just temporary until your listings get deleted...between 7 and 45 days)

sure thing.

also - i just noticed that craigslist.com(pr8) 302's to craigslist.org(pr8) which 302's to sfbay.craigslist.org(pr0) .... (not that that makes any difference)
