Besides Sugar Gliders what else are there?
I know a couple of you have some neat pets. First thing that pops to mind is ly_from_wf's Bengal cat that still has enough wild in its genes to enjoy taking baths.

They're not for everyone, but I've had 2 small parrots for almost 11 years now and they're pretty awesome. If you're curious about getting one, there are a ton of rescues and most will take the bird back if it turns out to be a bad fit. My sun conure:

Warnings:
- You won't be able to invite Jon over to visit. He will eat your bird.
- Certain breeds are noisy (my green cheek conure is quiet, but the sun conure can be kind of a jerk sometimes)
- Larger parrots can take off your finger if you don't know how to handle them properly
- They have very sensitive lungs. Heated Teflon (not just pans but heaters, toaster ovens, hair dryers, etc), cleaning products, fragrances, etc. can kill a bird. On the bright side, good air quality is good for you, too.
- They need a good amount of attention (but they love to sit with you while you work) and they live anywhere from 10-80 years depending on the type of parrot.
tbh I don't understand the appeal of having some crazy exotic animal as a pet. Just get a dog, man
