[CONTEST] 5 Winners! Members With The Best Article Posts Wins!

Here's the deal:
The user with the most amount of original and relevant article style posts wins. There will be a scoreboard here everytime a new article is submitted, the user/author will be given one point. If you don't get a point, contact me and I'll personally review it, and determine if it's legitimate or not. At the end of the contest, the top 5 users with the most points will be put into a sitewide vote, and a winner will be chosen. The 4 remainder contestants will also get some prizes, but nothing as good as #1. Your mission is to bring this place up, quality wise.

Who can participate:
Anyone! You can be a total new member of the forum or a veteran (of a whole 2 weeks) to participate. It's open for anyone, including mods! If you're a guest and reading this, you may want to join and take part in it, because this should benefit everyone.

The prizes:
First Place:
A written report AND 1 on 1 phone or voip call with me, personally, discussing how to take your site, or even a new site of yours from a zero to an absolute hero. Any niche applies (as long as it's legal). I will personally show you how to dominate your site in the search engines. How to continously add good content to it. How to find sub-niches in your sector to get good traffic. How to make money from your site with contextual advertising, CPM ads, and CPA/CPL (may vary depending on your niche). Bottom line, you will make money and get a lot of traffic to your site. You will learn the way I do it, step by step, and no one else will get in your way. You can easily apply all of my techniques to other projects of yours so that you can do it over and over. As the winner of the contest, you will also win a 1 month, invite only FREE membership to the premium section as well.

Runners up prizes:
1 month FREE to the premium section when it launches. You will also get a written up report by me specifically for your website. I'll list what needs to be changed and how. It will cover revenue generation, traffic generation and keyword research. Plus any new ideas I may get for you to change your site so that it becomes more profitable for you in the long run.

There will be FIVE winners. ONE first place winner, and FOUR runners up. The contest ends on August 31st at 11pm EST (GMT -4).

All article posts put into the Shoot the Shit forum will not be counted UNLESS it's industry related and other users think that it deserves a point. There are thousands of topics to cover out there, and you have about two months to do it, so get cracking! Also, continue spreading the word. I know this is not a $20k Lee contest, but given the amount of help the winners will have, you can probably make more than that on your own! Don't be intimidated to join! And keep your article posts ORIGINAL.

PS - If you are caught cheating, by either posting an un-original article, you will lose 5 POINTS. The WickedFire team will also be monitoring the voting structure to make sure that one person does not use multiple 1 post wonder accounts to vote his own account or article in. If you're caught cheating more than once, you will be banned from all contests for a YEAR. So don't do it.

I must be a little dense, but what is an "article style post"? Just a long post, or something like a product review?

I'm going to gun for it, if I can figure out how... :2gunsfiring_v1:

An article post is exactly what it sounds like. A short or long if you want article as a new thread. So for instance, you're an SEO, so a good article post type topic would be "ways to increase your site's traffic via MSN using SEO", or something like that.

...and as long as I'm posting dumb questions...what is the little green bar of squares below everyone's name?

Reputation levels.

I suggested VoIP for international forum users because it's free, and due to the time delay, maybe IM's or email would be better too.. We'll see I guess.

hoorah, i'm in the lead for quantity...hopefully for quality too :P

My Articles
  1. Making Video Game Sites
  2. MySpace as a Marketing Tool
  3. The Best Way to Earn Money
  4. PHP Includes Tutorial
  5. Making a Content Site
  6. Making a MMORPG Gold Selling Site
Can the winner choose not to use voip? I find typing quicker, easier, and I don't have a mic...just letting you know...incase...i win.....I think I have a decent runner up chance and I'd love that.

Since You did post a lot of quality stuff, but because it was before the contest started, I'll start you off with 1 point for every 3 good posts you made, so that's 2 already.

This rule will apply for everyone else as well. If you can dig up 3 quality posts you've made before the contest started, I'll reward you with a point.
Everything from July 6th 2006 and on does not fall under this loophole.

this should get some quality stuff on the forums. I bet if sitepoint would try a bit harder managing the community and running contests, their forum would be a 100 times more useful

Ok, i think I'll win this competition ;) - we could share BH/WH tactics! :yin-yang:

Here's a few post ideas that come to mind:

Blackhat/Greyhat

1. Exploiting Amazon's book excerpts.
2. Limiting duplication penalties with RSS feeds.
3. An effective blog link-begging tactic.
4. Niche referral-log site promotion. (3 and 4 can be used together.)
5. An highly effective, intelligent comment spamming tactic (not as BH as it seems).
6. Reducing the risk of repercussions from automated comment/trackback spamming (pure BH).
7. Cloaking: reducing the risk of a ban by ensuring content similarity for bot and visitor.

Whitehat

1. Advantages of original/fresh/relevant site design.
2. List of content research/creation tools.
3. Personal site development/promotional blueprint.
4. Site promotion ideas - thinking outsite the box.
5. A novel idea for monetizing forums.
6. Looking for the BIG one (or two).

great list, but now comes the harder part, writing it ;)

My vote goes out BH #3 as your first article:bigear:

Considering that the contest is over at the end of August, I'm confident that we are going to see some pretty awesome threads here. Remember, as long as it's original, and people can find it useful to them or learn from it, then it's 1pt!

Cool! I was being a little satirical when I said I would win.

I’m sure there a many Wickedfire members that would greatly benefit from your experience and wisdom much more than myself, I so I wont be entering the competition.

However, I really like the openness, freshness and feel of this board, so I’ll continue to post, question and discuss GH/BH techniques and tactics. Afterall, Google makes billions from scraping websites and sticking ads next to them, or on them!

If you do win and feel as if you don't need my services, you can always hand them off to someone else on the forum, or let me give it to the runner up (which would confuse things a bit, but you'd be a hero nonetheless). Regardless of your choice, you're still going to get a free month in the premium section whether you like it or not! :action-smiley-052:
