Clients that don't pay?

No offense but you should have lost anything you where owed. Who the fuck leaves their client in the dark for 10 days?

Really you honestly think that your client would be happy after 10 days of non communication? I suffered my only negative itrader because some ass hat designer took 11 days to NOT deliver me a logo and was about as communicative as a rock so I bitched about it (and we swapped negative itrader). I personally do not stand for such a thing nor have I ever treated a client as such.

You do not sound like the person who values the business of your clients and I would be shocked if anyone ever came to you again after openly admitting so. If you're not open by at least email and AIM WTF good are you? It takes literally all of a few minutes to setup something like Thunderbird to keep a tab on your emails so you know the second it comes though, and it takes no more than a few minutes to reply.

And to those people who laugh at no contract welcome to the world of freelance, you can't wait around to sign a contract with everyone. Most projects don't warrant it, but I've never had a problem getting paid because I deliver on what I say I'm going to do. It really is that simple, you'll get paid by pretty much anyone as long as you deliver what you promise in a timely fashion.

This is not a personal victory (you getting paid) it is a warning to anyone else out there to not deal with you.

Rage in the sense that this asshole comes here looking for some kind of sympathy after totally screwing someone over and to watch some asshats bite at it. Don't get me wrong there where plenty that told him that he's in the wrong, and he was.

If I where his client I would have told him to go pound sand and would have expected the same thing from a client. There is NO reason something like this should ever happen. Also the retardeness to post such things, this guy should be run off of Wickedfire because he clearly doesn't get it but then takes the smug approach that he finally got paid. It makes me want to vomit.

Yeah I got it but that wasn't the point. This thread is so full of fail from many people who've never earned their money through freelance work.

Someone mentioned that in his defense some clients aren't worth dealing with. Although in this case when you leave someone in the dark for 10 days, that's not an unreasonable client. That's a client that wanted to be kept in the loop (like anyone would).

Some other jackle suggested that you keep the domain registered in your name until getting paid (trying like he knows something). My only thought to that is GOOD FUCKING LUCK! Who the hell is going to turn over their domain to you so you can develop it? That has to be the most fucking retarded thing I've ever heard.

Those not in the know just need to keep the fuck out and stop trying to boost their post count, because you're not doing anything but empowering some asshat that can't handle his clients.

This guy even said he registered a domain to rank, for not effectively communicating to his client. If that doesn't raise red flags I don't know what does.

Honestly, I spent about 10 minutes looking for the OP's website so I can start calling his clients and offering them the service they deserve, but his linked in doesn't have one and I only came across 1,2,3 web designs or something.

God. I love taking clients from people like him.

As someone who makes a decent living with freelance, I wouldn't expect to be paid anything if I just stopped communicating with a client on a large project. I'm very surprised he didn't cut bait and leave you the deposit and opt out of the finished project. For one, why would you almost have a shouting match with a client? And then you just decided to stop communicating? This has a very high school vibe to it - which is familiar to me since I'm surrounded by melodramatic teens every day. If you're going to be in business, act like it. I guess I'm glad you got paid, assuming you did what you promised the client initally, but frankly I'm a bit surprised. Hopefully you'll use this as a learning experience.

Soupy, I know you're banned now, but again - if you're going to be in business, act like you're at least somewhat respectable. I get paid to fix the work of other writers all the time, but I'm not starting a smear campaign about it. Try to have some decorum when you rejoin with your new proxy account.
