I just submitted my first adsense application and read the terms of agreement and all that.

But I have a blaring question: What is the mechanism that keeps you from clicking on your own ads (in a more clever way than sitting on your own computer and clicking them over and over). Perhaps simply clicking your own ads from different computers?

I really can't find it. I bet it's obvious and simple, but I must be missing something. :anon.sml:

It is that simple? How do you think the big guys make there money? Hire indians out to go through proxies and click adsense ads over and over, it is that simple

On a lighter note, if you click your own ads, you get banned and lose all your money made

I'm pretty sure they have ultra violet sensors installed in your fingertips that follow eye and mouse movements so when your own website and a mouse click intersect on and X and Y axis a signal goes off that immediately alarms the local police who subdue you while the CIA make their way to your home.

The FBI rejoices as well but they eat blueberry muffins, rice krispie treats and raisinettes before joining the others.

Hahaha great fuckin response man, lmao!

You've got balls coming into a forum where a bunch of people are paying for AdWords ads and asking this.

They check for everything, they even do a geo IP lookup and compare it to the language the ads are served for, the location you login from when checking stats, etc.

There are certainly ways to cheat, but the effort to stay undetected is really huge and certainly better invested in building up real traffic.

This is exactly why I have the damn content network disabled man

I get good traffic from Adwords and I hate it when people try to cheat it.

Besides that, I think Adsense is in general a shitty affiliate program since they have staff working full time to see how they can stiff you out of more commissions and ban your account any time they like even if you've get legit clicks.
