Basically what happened is that my site was ranking for Keyword x in 6th position.

So I included that keyword x in the meta keywords + included that keyword in the title as Previous Title | Keyword x in order to increase the ranking for keyword x

The final result suprised me very much that keyword which was ranking in 6th position went into 52nd position and never returned back to the top page.

Now I have almost similar scenario for another site.
Im ranking 3rd place for keyword y which has 1600 searches
and ranking in 9th lace for keyword z which has 8800 searches

The keyword y is partial match of keyword z
And its placed in title + meta description + keywords + H1

But I would rather optimise my site for keyword z which has 8800 searches but affraid of the same previous scenario.

What can i do in order not to have similar situation with 2nd site?

It really sounds like a -50 penalty to me, but It could be caused by a range of things, and one of them as you mentioned is changing the meta tags, but I really doubt that this is the reason why u got dropped.

It could have something to do with the latest panda rollout or something with your link building techniques just so happes to be coincidental as the time you changed meta tags. There is probably some other factor that your sites that got penalized share and I would look beyond meta tags and try and identify what it could be
