Car Shopping.. Need Something Fast & Badass.. Also Comfortable...

cl55 amg coupe: 20k (close to 80K miles)

also found a 2005 corvette closeby for 25 but its got 70k miles on it

both of these cars promise to be extremely fun to drive.. are both loaded, but they both have kinda high mileage...

70-80k doesn't seem that bad for mileage on an 8 cylinder if it was taken care of

Pick up a certified pre-owned 2007-2008 BMW 335i. It's right in your price range with a little negotiating. AMG's, 7-Series, Vettes are all cool cars but they are seriously expensive to fix. Like someone said above, expect super high repair bills, and at those mileages you're going to be fixing or replacing something soon. Not to mention you'll need to do the 75k and 90k maintenance schedules (a few thousand extra right there) if they haven't been done already.

Certified Pre-Owned cars have warranty until 100k miles or another 2 years outside the factory warranty. Not to mention it raises the resale value, because lets face it you're gonna be buying that Ferrari with your Internet monies next year anyway.

just spent all day at the fucking dealership, fuckking horrible experiences. i have bad credit and I was looking to put 50-60% down then finance the rest to build my credit.
anyways those fucking scammers lied their asses off about prices, finance rates, etc

this one toyota dealership i offered 19k on a 2007 m35 with 79k miles... (sticker price was 27) and after an hour of haggling and bullshit they told me that the interest on that 19k payment would be an additional 16K on top of that (just in interest!!!!! ) so I promptly told them to go fuck themselves and stormed out.

the good:

I test drove a 2007 G36 Sedan and LOVEEEED IT!!!! Such a responsive, fun car!!!
They wanted 27K for it, and i just feel like i can find one closer to 22-23k so im gonna hunt through autotrader/CL some more.

If that falls through im just gonna go for the cl 55... which as fast as it looks i'll probably love

Just grab yourself a Porsche 911 - used of course - that is if you want fast, prestige, and fun to drive.

or.... and just a thought......

grab a toyota for now and then invest the extra $10K in sites and buy the Porsche Turbo cash in a year.... or two. If I was young again - that's what I would do.

Invest your cash in making more cash - never spend it on depreciating assets - buy any car you can afford with 1 months cash flow.

I assume you mean a g35, nice cars, love the interior layouts. My friend bought an 03 for just under 10k. For an 06/07 you shouldnt be paying more then 20k, quite a few 06's sitting just above 15k. cl55 gunna be a tough resell + its way rarer then a entry level amg, c55's e55's etc.... repairs will be a bitch at that mileage

Stay as far away from that CL55 as possible. That thing will run you many thousands of dollars once things start going on it. It's not worth it. Get something reliable and put your monies back into your business as was previously suggested.

the 55k engine is phenomenal as is the tranny - IMO the 5 speed is a lot more raw and fun than the much more polished 7 on the 63 series cars (The low end torque was blowing apart the 7 speeds on the kompressor motor and thus AMG went with the built 5 speed instead).

The CL is a HUGE 2 door though, it's a boat. Great cars though, but have at least $5k disposable for repairs.

(fyi a set of tires is ~$1500 for Pilot Sport 2's and a brake job is about the same- at that mileage FIND OUT WHEN BOTH WERE DONE.)

alot of good ideas in this thread especially the cts-v but I havent seen ANY of them in nor cal. Audi S6 would be cool but its like double what I wanna spend :) at this point im contemplating:

ive heard alot of good things about the mercs lasting a long time (granted, expensive to upkeep)

but i havent heard as much about corvettes... any vette owners wanna chime in ? im also guessing since they're domestic they wouldn't be AS expensive as a mercedes to work on too

You say you want fast as hell and luxury. I don't know what you mean by fast, but these cars aren't that fast, 740i lol. If you want fast and luxury get a CTS-V, the newer the better. The CTS-V also has awesome handling. If you want more on the CTS-V search for Nurburgring lap times. If you want fast a stock car just isn't going to get it. Look for a C5 vette with twin turbos. Or if you want to save, get a mustang some ford boy has modified. If you want luxury, go German. The Pontiac G8 isn't bad for performance.

I've got an 88 vette roadster, faster than your average car, but in no way "fast", but it has a been reliable weekend car. The LS series engines in the newer vettes is a proven, reliable motor that can be modified easily and much cheaper than euros. They will easily run over 200k miles if maintained. They put LS engines in everything from vettes to gtos to trucks, etc. The C6 vette is faster than the C5, but with a little money the C5 can be pretty fast. Just don't take your car to the dealer, unless you want to get screwed on repairs, quality mechanic is essential. I'm thinking of dropping an LS2 into a e36 bmw.

An RS4? 2007 w/ 50k+ miles is less than 35k.

3-4 yr old Caymans w/ any miles. not 350 hp but have a good power/weight.
easy to daily drive, don't know how the head room is. not 4 door either.

CLS500 AMG 06 40k+miles only, still under dealer warranty, 33k

honestly dont listen to any of these idiots. get something newer. 07 at minimum. you are going to run into a shit load of issues buying these high end cars that have been pushed for quite a while. shits gunna start going wrong and you're going to end up paying way more in repairs, maintenance. Get a newer g37-s would be my recommendation.

Bigger than a hummer...

powered by a Ford-sourced 6.8-litre V10 putting out 400bhp and 500lb ft of torque. It'll run on E85 ethanol, so it's er, green. Sort of.

;)

Lexus GS350 (07-08 Range, about 20-40k miles) , Still will be under factory warranty (or dealer warranty) most likely. Range: $28-$32k.

Percs: Luxury, its a fucking Lexus. ALL WHEEL DRIVE. Do you live somewhere with a fuckton of snow or bad weather? 300+ horsepower.

winner.

am thinking of moving to US now. You guys are paying peanuts for a car.

Can you imagine how much i paid for a fucking honda civic in singapore? $90K USD Fuck yeah

I just leased a new 2010 Altima and love it. I know it's not the horse power you're looking for but it's in your price range and it's still 270 HP with continuously variable transmission which is fucking awesome.

I just configured a 2010 Altima Sedan 3.5 SR for a little over 25k brand fucking new. If you've got a little bit of extra money you should also test drive a Maxima. Both of these cars will give you the best of both worlds with luxury and speed that fits your price range.

LOL, what information is this based on? much more will it cost to maintain a 3000 car than a 2007? How much more will that cost you over a newer car after you figure in the cost difference and resale? Your statement is factless, opinionated and without merit.

He wants a really fast car, buying a new G37 won't leave any money for the Stillen supercharger he's gonna need. With the better looking G35 he might.
