Campaign Cloning

Alright, so my buddy has this campaign that he's running using banners and it's been getting around a 100% ROI for the past month. I wanted to see if I could create the same campaign and have it profit. He agreed to let me clone his campaign so I could run it for a little while. He gave me his login details and I copied the campaign exactly, with the same exact landing page and same offers from the same network, except I bid 1 cent higher. We left his campaign running as well.

The results: He kept his 100% ROI... I ran for 2 hours straight and ended up losing $225 with a $400 test. What I want to know is how this is even possible if I cloned his campaign exactly and ended up outbidding him by a cent. It makes no sense to me and actually is making me a bit pissed since it seems like I could have had a number of successful campaigns in the past but for some reason they failed. If anyone think they have an answer/solution to my problem let me know.

No... like I said he let me login and make sure I got the whole campaign exactly the same, everything is the same except his stayed profitting and mine failed.

There could be a number of factors into this. Maybe the domain name you got was shitty? Maybe the load time of your landing page is shitty? You get the idea. Anyways, you should just make your campaign better than his. Maybe you forgot to cloak your affiliate links?

Domain name is the same as his except for 1 letter difference, load time is the same if not faster, links are cloaked. It just doesn't make sense, like there is something more going on behind the scenes or something *shrug*

Is this on an ad network, a sites program, google content or what?

PM me full campaign details and I'll help you.

It's my friend's campaign and I'm not looking to get this campaign profitable, I'm just trying to point out that something is fucking sketchy here. How can he have 100% ROI and I have a -100% ROI... even if there is 1 or 2 minor details that are different I should still be profitable, not completely negative.

If its an ad network, perhaps they are showing your ad on different sites then they are showing his?

I'd say it's most likely the fact you only ran it for 2 hours on 1 day. Also, if you're running a rebill with a higher CPA, I don't think $400 over a 2 hour period is going to be statistically significant yet.

No prob man that doesn't bother me. Just PM me full campaign details and I'll help you.

Blink, how do the CTRs compare? maybe his ctr is higher making his ecpm higher for the traffic source so he's getting more play in more placements.. if the CTRs are similar give yourself a 1-3x24 freq cap and bid higher than a penny above him if his roi is over 100% or whatever. really fucking broad question though, hit me up on aim i've been trying to get a hold of you for a few days broskeee

so you conned your friend into convincing him that stealing his campaign would be beneficial for both of you in the long run?

haha. get the fuck outta here
