Call Fall military heroes?

This guy is a liberal piece of shit. He's like the more male version of Maddow. That being said, unfortunately, I agree with him. If you weren't drafted, you're not a hero, you're a paid and trained killer working to fulfill the government's interests. Just because the government and media feed you full of bullshit about protecting our freedoms and you buy into the bullshit, doesn't make you a hero...it makes you a useful idiot.

EDIT: IN B4 Fox News and other "conservative" outlets create a shit storm of epic proportions and probably end up getting this liberal faggot fired, which I don't agree with. Though I wish he would get fired because I hate liberals, but just not fired for this particular statement.

oh boy, take a look at the comments on that post. some hardcore Palin voters up in that thread.

I posted this:

If you weren't drafted, you aren't a hero. Even if you were drafted you're more of a victim of government force than a hero. Firefighters, doctors, organ donors, etc. are heroes, they saves lives. Members of the military generally kill people and bomb things, then when they save some victim from the rubble they just bombed they are celebrated as heroes, meanwhile everyone seems to forget why they had to rescue said victim to begin with.

Military = Paid and trained killers working to fulfill the governments interests, get over it.

IN B4 my facebook is bombarded by angry rednecks and republicans...

^^^ Pretty much how I feel.

A lot of those "heroes" as we're told to call them are blood-thirsty maniacs who only signed up so they could kill people. A hero to me is someone like Audie Murphy who went 'above and beyond' during battle when he didn't have to in order to accomplish the mission.

The rest of the soldiers are just doing their fucking job.

I don't have any more respect for soldiers than I do for long distance truck drivers. It's a hard job that requires a little bit of special training and lots of time away from home, not much more to it than that.

What a disrespectable, ignorant statement to make...He obviously was not taught what it means to have character, to walk with dignity and to show true courage....that is what I think about when I think of our soldiers, past and present....our country's heroes, in every sense of the word!

Sure smells indoctrinated in here.

you forgot your sarcasm tag, bruh

This guys is someone who curls up on the couch on the weekend with some sugar free sorbet so he can watch a marathon of Lifetime movies. Spineless intellectual pussies shouldn't comment on anything they have never experienced. Unless you know what it is like to serve, be part of a brotherhood, to put your life on the line - then shut the fuck up. Those who serve don't ask to be called heroes, it is something the public has bestowed upon them as a sign of respect.

To say those that have been killed in service of their country aren't heroes, just makes you a douche. Even if you don't believe it, what does it accomplish? Trying to further your career and make a name for yourself makes you a terrible person.

RITE! Because all this freedom that soldiers die for that we hear so much about only works if someone shares your same indoctrinated worldview amirite? AMIRITE BRO? AMIRITE BRO? AMIRITE BRO?

A soldier doesn't ask to be called a hero, but they should be given respect. The guy was trying to be controversial and to further his career off the backs of dead service men. Some things don't need to be said because it accomplishes nothing.

Sure Nazi warriors were called heros by Reich defending the world from the "[insert your cause here]" while burning, torturing and raping millions

The wordings of the current oath of enlistment and oath for commissioned officers are as follows:
"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).
"I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God." (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)

Yeah that's what makes people hero's. They took an oath to not only defend the constitution but to obay the orders of the President of the United Sates. They don't get to question the legality of the wars they go to, they made an oath to follow orders.

If during their time of voluntary service they are required to engage in combat for whatever reason they are a hero because they kept their word and didn't break their oath.

All of that brotherhood/hero shit is manufactured in order to get people like you to sign contracts that obligate them to kill other human beings. Today's soldiers are contract workers, and nothing else.

But it makes me wonder, should I be flying a smaller flag for all of the private security firm employees who have been killed in the Middle East? I mean, they were just trying to protect our soldiers, right?

I'm fucking sick of people who further this ridiculous hero worship public service bullshit.

I'm going to go fly a flag for my garbageman today, because he has dedicated his life to try and prevent my street from becoming a cesspool, and I appreciate that a fuck of a lot more than some C student who played too much Call Of Duty and though it might be cool to shoot brown people in the face in real life but wound up getting blown to bits anyway.

Yes, honoring a contract makes you a fucking hero. I've honored lots of contracts in my day, now go throw me a goddamn parade.
