If you are building a PBX (Asterisk) box get a card that has echo cancel built into the hardware of the card, don't use the software echo-cancel (it sucks). that's only if you are using the phone companies service and not SIP. If you don't have echo cancel then going from the analog phone lines and converting the call into Digital will cause an annoying echo on some calls.
I have Polycoms at the office and have been very happy with sound quality and features. I absolutely hated the Cisco phones(7960), they were a pain in the ass to configure and sounded horrible. I took all the cisco phones out and replaced them with Polycoms 560s and 650s units. The new Polycom VVX touch screen units look pretty sick.
Depending on your configuration you can find a New digium card for $200 -$500.
