BURNING MY US CITIZENSHIP

Just a heads up. Even if you renounce U.S. citizenship if my understanding is correct, you are still liable for U.S. Taxes for 7 more years. So there is no 'immediate' gratification.

You should first decide which country you would like to become a citizen of and then ATTAIN that citizenship BEFORE you give up your U.S. citizenship.

If you are not happy with U.S. laws and the way certain things are going I would encourage you to find ways to find a solution/change the system. Go vote. Not necessarily just on national election but more importantly get involved on a LOCAL level. Change comes from the LOCAL level and goes on up. Most people seem to loose sight of that. You'd be surprised how easily YOU can run for office if you can communicate coherently.

As long as you have a U.S. Bank account etc. you still have access to Amazon/Adsense etc. income. So nothing changes there. You'll STILL be responsible for taxes (you have 7 years from the time you denounce to figure out your alternatives). FYI - if you live in another country you are considered an ex-pat and have a tax exemption for the first $85,000 per year (not sure if that is the exact number. Use your google fu).

Again - I would first thoroughly research the countries you want to move to and then LIVE there for 12-18 months. Not everything looks as wonderful locally as it does sitting behind a keyboard in L.A..

Most importantly - go get 'real' information and not necessarily from WF. While this is a great community you ARE in the STS section. Opinions are worth what you pay for.

I've seen too many affiliates talk shit about how horrible US citizenship is only to have their adsense accounts banned for no reason or their #1 affiliate offer go down. Then they have to spend the last $1,000 they have on a flight back from Thailand so they can go live with mom and dad and get on food stamps.

You don't make anywhere near the amount required for an overseas citizen to pay taxes on, why even bother?

I was considering a visa until i could get a passport in my new home country. Visa requirements vary wildly around the globe, but in the place I am considering, its tolerable.

Agree. I don't get it. Ok, you may be in a solo internet marketing - a lone wolf doing your own game, not doing any client work. But what if your empire one day crashes, what then? Could you re-profile?
I look at US as opportunity. I would spend my time getting new clients aboard, building my team, expanding. Would you be able to accomplish it without your citezinship, outstide the country? You probably could, but it would be WAY harder. It's still the leading, english-speaking economy with tons of niches.

I see no point losing US citizenship because of taxes.... Just make more.
 
Few random tid bits of advice:

You have to earn a decent income regardless if you're sitting in LA or Santiago, so don't be too scared.

Having said that though, make sure you're emotionally and mentally mature enough to work without a support base, and in an unfamiliar environment. Just things like culture shock, no signs in English, some locals will look at and treat you as a weird alien, etc. These small things can take a toll, and if you're not prepared for them, you can very easily end up in a world of hurt. Make sure to have an emergency fund of at least $20k saved up, and then forget it exists.

Make sure to research opening a bank account. Due to FATCA, nearly every new account form at all banks in the world ask if you're a US citizen, and if you check yes, they may simply deny you an account.

Make sure you're in this for the long-run. Before you renounce, you first need citizenship in another country, and just that is going to take 3 - 10 years depending on the country you choose.

Legally, Uncle Sam is allowed to come after you for 10 years to collect back taxes, and I think you have to pay for 7 years after you leave. That means you have about 17 years to keep your head down, and avoid him.

Having said all that, fuck it, you only live once, so give 'er a go! Otherwise, you're going to be sitting around for the next 10 years pissed off and regretting the decision.

i don't know what you are considering, but acquiring citizenship on 3k a month is massive bullshit. Your us passport is a ticket to do whatever the fuck you feel like throughout the world. Just go there and set up shop.

i don't know about this obsession with Hong Kong businesses. Hong Kong is not known for particularly advantageous business protection. Get your llcs in Nevis. Your corps in Panama. Your trusts in New Zealand. Your bank accounts in Swiss cantonal banks. Or in Singapore. whichever is farther. Make the money go round. They'll never find it. even if they find it, they won't sue.

On your abysmal income, the United States are some of the more favorable taxation systems. Do you have any idea how much harder you'll be raped in Brazil?

i can teach you all you need to know about offshore. It's far from your best option though.

Of course, AM/IM isnt my only source of income. But considering the temporary destabilization i will face, I wont have a job or the means of scaling my income. 3K is the hold over. What number is more realistic? I have found it extraordinary difficult to scale my AM income, so either people are lying on their dicks or Im missing something.

I have lived in other countries for extended periods and so culture shock is nothing for me (if you can live in Uganda for 2 years, Thailand aint shit.)

Im not moving for taxes alone, BTW. Lifestyle, etc is important as well.

Well I'd hope so because at $3k a month in income you don't pay shit in taxes. Get some real income and see how you feel about taxes. You're fucking poor in the US and I guess there places in the world where you'd feel like a baller with that type of income.

Crack that nut brother or diversify and create another rev source to help. You really want to claim 'knowing your way around AM/IM' in one sentence and in the next say your primary is amazon/adsense with 3K at best coming in. You're still cutting your teeth man and it's ok to say it. It's not a lie, it's a god damned hustle though that you're only going to get a piece of if you earn or steal it. The revs/strategy/capital are all there for those that work it. Hit one out of the park and give yourself a lot more options abroad. Leave the US on peasant wages and an over confident ego and find out quickly why so many want to be here so badly.

It's going to be much easier for you to create success in LA than clickclickdurk-land if you have an ounce of networking skills. Tough it out here for a minute, you've already done a metric shit ton more of the IM trench digging than most out there.
