Brain Drugs

I'm no neurologist, and you can believe whatever you like. However I'm one heck of skeptical individual and I research the hell out of anything before diving into it.

Ah, I see. Your garden-variety Internet skeptic. By "research", I'm guessing you mean "Google the term and read about it on blogs and message boards."

I'll take my peer-reviewed scientific journals over digg, thank you very much.

-Your brain as it is, has more potential synapse connections than matter in the universe.

I get what you're trying to say, but no one can say for certain how much matter the universe contains.

If you really want to mess around with your brain, try trepanation.

Aren't your synapses made from matter? If so, how can the above be true?

Synapses are the the pathways neurons use to talk to each other. It becomes exponentially larger as they're all interconnected.

I don't know why you take on such a condescending tone, I stated multiple times to each their own, and I just listed my reasoning to not use them.

Why do you take personal offense when someone contradicts your way of thinking? Guess what, you're not the almighty, all knowing shit of the world. You tout yourself to be a pretty logical person, yet I haven't seen an ounce of rational thought in your posts, you just banter like a child with your personal attacks.

You haven't argued one of my statements with anything more than "my papers, my papers". Just like religious people see in their texts the word of god, you find in your papers what you want to find to support your habits.

Your replies so far only show an arrogant way of thinking, lack of understanding, and tells me more about your character than I could ever care to know. You'll never get anywhere by attacking people before their statements, and at the very least you'd save yourself from looking like an idiot.

You're absolutely right on the "certain" part. There are still unknowns, for example dark matter is thought to be a large constituent of what makes up the universe, and we can't even interact with it yet. Astrophysicists can just observe its effects. They have pretty good models on what constitutes our visible reality though, and this is what this calculation was based on.

So what you're basically saying is that, yes, you accept internet message boards and blogs as more factually relevant than scientific publications.

Ha.

OMG, WTF @ Trepanation. I was hesitant to clink on the link, for fear of spinning penises, but this may have been worse. I threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Sadly, the effects of adderall-type drugs are lost on me. I've taken them a few times for studying but every time I just end up compulsively cleaning the house and falling asleep.

I dunno about Provigil...it seems a little over the top, and it has known side effects.

Piracetam is considered the tamest of the nootropic family, so I'm happy to stick with just that.

hmmm, wow i never heard of piracetam before...

ive been taking stupid multi-vitamins for years because thats all the pharmacist would recommend when id tell them that i fall asleep all the time in class... I dont know why i still take them, i still feel tired ALL THE TIME ... it didnt change anything.

now, being a self employed guy, i find life pretty hard... waking up in the morning is just the hardest thing... motivation is an issue... memory, hmm well, id like more of it sure, i mean there is a gazillion user/passwords i have to remember, things to do, people to call, emails to send ... when i think of all the things i have to do in a day it really is overwhelming, i dont even go to the gym anymore i eat 1 or 2 meals per day... my productivity sucks... i hate that word, productivity, it makes me think of myself as a machine, im not a machine...

so what would you recommend ?
after reading this post im ready to order some piracetam, but is there something better, as safe and effective ?

Sounds to me like you just need better organization and time management skills than you do drugs. Get more sleep and/or try Gotu Kola and ginseng to help out with not feeling tired throughout the day - and hopefully once you have more energy you won't feel as unmotivated.

Oh yeah, I guess I should have mentioned that I have legitimate memory issues. I often can't remember what I had for breakfast, if I put on deodorant that morning, whether or not I sent in my gas bill, etc. I also tend to repeat myself and sometimes I repeat myself. Drives my girlfriend nuts. This stuff tends to help a bit.

I snort Adderall and Oxycontin for breakfast, and then for a snack a few hours later. I then snort some more for lunch, a little more for a post-lunch snack, followed by an afternoon snack. Dinner is usually more Adderall and Oxycontin, I then go for seconds and thirds. I have a snack before bed where I snort Adderall and Oxycontin, and will generally fix extra as I'll wake up and have more for a midnight snack.

Drop those multivitamins Rasta man. Forget all the talk of amphetamines in this post for a minute; some studies have shown that people who take multivitamins all the time live shorter lives. Get your vitamins from natural sources... from eating well. Eat a banana and an orange every day for your potassium and vitamin c. Eat lots of fresh green veggies. Drink a pint of Guinness from time to time. Get a bit of sun.

Personally I've been suffering from a bit of anxiety and a lack of general focus a fair bit lately. I get overwhelmed by the scope of what I am trying to do. If I get out and go for a brisk walk/run or bike ride I feel a whole lot better. Otherwise I have to smoke and drink myself stupid to control my head space. It's not good.

I was smoking way too much dope a few years back and had some serious anxiety attacks. Thought I was going to die a few times. Doctor gave me some Xanax but that left me feeling completely lobotomized. As much as I'm intrigued by the likes of Adderall, I'm also scared about messing with my brain chemistry any more than I already do.

I know that getting everything in its "natural" form is best, but considering the time/money/effort needed to organize all that, isnt taking those multi-vitamins better than "nothing" ?

there so many things we should be eating... omega 3, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, anti oxidants, water, etc ... i mean, i remember when i was working out at the gym seriously, this took a huge chunk of my time preparing all those healthy food and doing the groceries and getting all those nutriments and supplements and whatnot... eating healthy is also expensive... sure i saw results in my muscles, in my physique, but not in my head, i still felt tired most of the time and not motivated... i stayed with it for 4 years, just not stopped everything, i will get back to it one day, but my priority now has shifted to work...
