Boats. Motorcycles, Pilots..

You youngsters with crotch rockets won't think this is cool, but some of the older members with more refined tastes will probably be into it. ;)

If I were to start riding, that's exactly the style I'd like to buy. Very nice : )

Thanks...I knew there'd be a few who'd dig it. Fun bike for sure..and LOUD. I love pissing innocent bystanders off when you blow by them with the throttle wide open.

Couple years ago with new tires, can still see the chalk-stripes (those were gone by the end of that ride):

As I edge toward 30 I'm beginning to see the appeal of a cruiser. Really liking the look of the current Suzuki Boulevard (M50).

And yes, my license has both a Moto-endorsement and an Organ-donor endorsement. People ought to buy me drinks.

Nice ride. A friend of mine put it this way, he's ridden crotch rockets for ten years, high end ducati's for another five, supermotos for another five. He rode a HD for one day and got more whistles from sluts than he ever got on the other bikes.

Then again, my bikes have 7x the braking capabilities, 4x the tire grip, 20x the suspension, 1/10th the maintenance, and 100x the fun. Fast bikes are better than sex :D Edit: And cheaper!

^^^QFT If I were to have a second bike, it'd definitely be a VMax or a Bonneville. Although it'd be the shit to have a vintage Norton or one of the newer Indians. I just have too much fun at Deals Gap and surrounding areas to cruise around on a Harley. But if I were to get anything like a cruiser, it'd have to be a VMax.. that's as close as I would get right now.

What do you guys recommend for a first bike?

I'd prob only use it a few times a month and wont be doing anything tricky or speed wise, plus I have some back issues ( pinch nerve ) so I think more of an upright bike would fit me based on the above, but I would like to have something other then a "goldwing" or HD.

Any suggestions for a first timer biker/old dude?

Pick up a HD Road King or a Road King Classic. Customize to your taste, put about 8-12k into it. You will not want another cruiser/tourer.

Or pick up a custom chopper. They can be had for 40-50k.

^^ Great ride jdomaha. That is very nicely done. What year is that?

For a first bike, I wouldn't go new, and I probably wouldn't get something as big as a RoadKing.

If you want an american cruiser, maybe pick up a used Harley softtail. Still a cool bike, but much cheaper than going with one of the full touring Harleys.

Or you could go even less expensive with one of the Yamaha or Honda harley knockoffs. No matter what you do, take a motorcycle riding safety class before you get your license. You'll be glad you did.

2009 Road King Classic with a few mods. The spoon was bought in 2004.

Road Kings aren't that much bigger than Softails. The HD touring frame's designed for more of a comfortable, longer ride. Bigger gas tank. Cruise control standard. You really need to sit on everything and have someone hold the bike up for you before you settle on just one kind.

The RKC is like 18-20k new. Softails go from 14-20k. It's only the big tourers, the couches on wheels, that are really expensive.

Just be warned that if you buy a Honda or Yamaha, you won't get your money back out of it. Especially true with Goldwings. Their value just plummets when you drive them off the lot. Harleys that are kept in good condition stay near their original selling price (as long as the seller isn't hugely motivated to sell).

And absolutely take a motorcycle training class. It's fun, it teaches you new things and it's a good way to get your license.

finally got both boats back from the shop and already got 1 in the water..

My first street bike was a 2000 Suzuki GSXR 750 bought brand new. I wasn't new to riding, though. I'd been riding dirtbikes since I was 5 and had ridden plenty of friends' street bikes.

I immediately threw a Yoshimura pipe on it, got rid of the license plate holder and put on a smoked screen.

But the best thing I ever did was the simplest:

In 2000 (and I'm sure several other years) the 750s and 600s looked very, very similar. They shared the same chassis and because mine was blue and white, even the color scheme looked similar to blue and white 600s that year.

Most people could only tell the difference between the 750 and 600 by the stickers on the back that read "600" or "750".

So what I did was peel off the "750" stickers very carefully (used a hair dryer, wd-40, and lots of patience) and replaced them with the "600" stickers.

So whenever some jackass on another 600 pulled up next to me and revved up, I'd walk away from them as if they were standing still. Was especially fun to do to all the overweight jackasses with the stretched out, chromed swingarms. You know the type: the ones that are 70+ lbs overweight but would pay hundreds for various carbon fiber bits to shave a couple of pounds off the bike's weight. Dumbasses never had a chance.

i have no clue what they are called, but i am seeing a lot of these motorcycles that have 2 wheels in the front and 1 in the back... ive seen a lot before that are Harley's with 2 wheels in the back ( custom looking shit ), but never 2 wheels in the front and 1 in the back.

Whats the deal with these?

As most of you know I fly and ride. I don't have any pictures of my actual planes and bikes for some reason on this computer. But this will give you the gist.

2009 Triumph Thruxton, Fun cafe racer style bike that's fun to be mellow and cruise on the road.

Some day I'd like to upgrade to one of those Honda Jet's. Takes a lot of hours of experience so getting that in now :)

Also on another note, not something I own but if you're into motorcycles my dad built and designed the bike that held the record for the fastest motorcycle in the world at 361 mph. They lost it last year and will be back to Bonneville to try and get it again this year. Here's a few pics and a video link.
