Bluehost and Hostgator Down All Morning

Does anyone have any feedback on hostdime.com? I am thinking of moving my HG stuff to there.

It's who I've been with for over 10 years. They are rock solid. I could probably count on one hand the issues that I've had with my dedi. Their support is top notch too.

So immediately after my sites got back up I received this email

Your invoice (24818686) with HostGator is due.

To make a payment, please log in with your email address and password at http://gbclient.hostgator.com/

Once logged in please click "Pay Bill Online" under Current Invoices. Or click "Make a Payment" on the left navigation bar. You may complete payment by Credit Card or Paypal on this page.

Once paid no further action is needed and your account will remain active.

We thank you for your continued business and assistance in helping us to get this resolved. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Best regards,
HostGator.com

My server at the HG data center has been going on and off all day. If your site is up it might be temporary. I wouldn't relax until HG officially says it's fixed.

Hurpity Fucking Dhurpity!!

Don't any of you who use HG ever check your DAMN EMAILS?!!

They are/were moving over to "NEW HARDWARE" and WARNED you about the damn down time!!

They ALSO told you that you just "might" have to check your IP and maybe have to update it with your Name Server.

P.S. The 10 piddly assed sites I still have with them were only offline for like 3 hours today.

P.S.S.

My email from 9 days ago:

Hello,

Please read this email urgently and in its entirety as it contains very important information regarding your HostGator account on gator1137.hostgator.com.

Your account is being upgraded onto brand new, more powerful hardware which will include the latest versions of cPanel and CentOS.
We plan to facilitate this upgrade as quickly and seamlessly as possible. Ensuring your total satisfaction with this maintenance is our primary objective. We will keep you updated via e-mail throughout. The upgrade process itself will result in an exact copy of your account being moved to new hardware and will ensure that the freshest possible up to the minute data is retained.

Once your data switchover is complete we will begin diverting all traffic to your new server so that you do not miss any traffic or experience connectivity problems. Please be aware that there may be minimal amounts of downtime, however we will do everything within our power to ensure a smooth transition. Please note, if you are currently using custom name servers, this process may require a change of IP addresses.

We will contact you within 48-72 hours, once the upgrade process has started.

*** Please expect a followup notice which will indicate the specific details required to update your DNS/Nameservers. ***

*** At this time, there is no action required on your part. **

Do you guys EVEN READ?!!!

LOL

lways bought them @ black Friday discount so have accepted it to be more shitty for the price discount

I cancelled my hostgator account ages ago, and they're still sending me invoices every couple of months. I probably should chase this up but I really shouldn't have to. Also I doubt they're any better/worse than other hosting company, with the exception of godaddy.

Just read this at the Hostgator forum:

http://forums.hostgator.com/now-denial-service-attack-provo-t278834.html

Now a Denial of Service attack at Provo I have just had an interesting conversation with a Live Chat agent when enquiring why I was still having issues with my emails and web sites

..
Our Provo data center experienced a large scale inbound attack this morning August 3rd starting around 6:05 AM CDT. Our DC was able to block the traffic at the edge however some sites and server connectivity were affected before they were able to fully mitigate this attack. We are aware and reviewing to assist at this time, and I do greatly appreciate your patience while they work on this.
(12:56:35pm)Alex Hammerstein:Are you saying that following the core switch failures yesterday you are now having an denial of service attacK as well?
(12:58:18pm)Tianna S.:Correct, which we are currently reviewing Alex and our admins are working to have this resolved permanently.
(12:58:49pm)Alex Hammerstein:and that this attack was the cause of the further issues we are seeing this morning
(12:59:32pm)Tianna S.:That is correct Alex, these are directly related to the current errors and we will have this resolved literally as soon as possible.

Sorry Hostgator, I'm off asap this is madness -

Popped in to complain about this myself. I was pushing a ton of traffic Friday and this cost me a pretty penny.

I've been on the verge of switching my host for while, hostgator has gone downhill. The last few months I've had my server go down 4+ times during prime hours. Absolute bullshit. You can't ever reach them when this happens either. And last time I did get someone on the phone, it was some ghetto bitch?

Dunzo. I saw Fatbat recommend Liquid Web, I may try that out.

Why any of you are hosting money sites on these third rate providers is beyond me.

And if any of you whine "but I have a VPS/Dedi", I'll dedicate the next 20 years of my life to building a time machine, so I can go back in time and fuck your mother and become your father.

Then I'll slap you upside the head for being a disappointment.

Care to share a reputable first rate provider, then, Popi?

And that goes for the rest of you Monday Morning QBs. Contribute and teach the know-nothings something, or GTFO.

On an aside, while I wait for some more snide remarks:

You know the thing that bothers me the most is this: I received a letter from a IM guy that I bought something from a few days back. He says, "sorry, but Hostgator went down, and our sites went down with them. Here's our new plan, sorry it happened." I thought, Wow, that was cool that he reached out to his customer base like that. I shows that he kinda cares, at least enough to be face front about the thing.

But do you think that Hostgator has done that? Hell no. I've spent a pretty penny with them over the years, and I have multiple accounts. Would it kill them to at least send out a "sorry" letter, for the sake of relationship and good customer service? Probably not. Hell, even the affiliate networks I work with gave me some free leads I KNOW I didn't get yesterday, just to keep things cool. But not HG. They're too cool for school.

Well, bunk them. I'm done with them as of next week. Sucks to be them. I can only imagine how many people are dropping them this week, not just for the inconvenience, but for plain bad customer service.
