Black Friday Dealzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

No, they would auto install to the fast/small/main/boot drive. That was the problem because then it would run out of space. Not saying that there is anything wrong with SSDs (besides price) just that with Windows you have to go out of your way to manage the main and 2nd drive to be sure that the main SSD doesn't constantly fill up.

The drive I had wasn't SS though, it was like a faster disc hd. Never had a SSD.

I'll look more into the SSDs before I buy, but for these reasons will probably end up getting cheap TB disc hds.

Well do what you want. Just know you have no idea what you are missing.

You should get a better power supply and an SSD.

And a better motherboard.

And probably better ram.

I don't mean in terms of bigger numbers, I mean in terms of quality.

Why, so the computer will run better or so the parts won't break, or both?

Some of the parts are so cheap if the part breaks I might be able to replace it and still would be less than a "quality" part.

The CPU and video card are the most important parts imo, so as long as the other parts are sufficient I don't really care all that much.

Yes.

Shortsighted, ignorant and misinformed.

Nobody said you had to go and buy a $500 HD. Buy a SSD for $50 to a $100 and make your machine actually run like a dream. Or cheap out and deal with agonizing slowness and save $50. Either way, like I said do what you want.

Lol, sorry, that post was mostly directed at pheasant. There are a couple 250 gb ssds I was looking at for around $100 to $120. Might get that and then a 2-3TB for the 2nd hard drive.

The deal sites I usually look at are TechBargains: Best Deals & Coupons on Laptops, Tablets, Computers & Electronics and Slickdeals: The Best Deals, Coupons & Discounts on Laptops, Computers, LCDs, TVs, Dell, HP, Apple, Amazon

I would not buy OCZ because they filed for bankruptcy and so the warranties may not be recognized...

Besides, even if OCZ weren't going under, the only SSD brands you should really be looking at are Intel and Samsung. I also would certainly not buy a refurbished SSD.

$109.99 for a 120gb Intel or $85.99 for a Samsung isn't that bad.

I completely agree with you, and will probably grab one of those. My reply was custom tailored to op's limited budget and apprehension towards an Ssd. Just read Oppie's reply's and you will see what I mean.
