He is - THE CACTUS!
Why does MS always go for shitty names?
That's just a stray thought, not my actual post.

Anyone used Bing yet?
They jumped the gun a little and released it a couple of days early, so I had a play.
Search relevancy seems pretty decent, especially if you know how to use modifiers and conditions. Easily on par with Google for general searching, and I've actually found it less cluttered with marketing junk when I was looking for specifics with conditions.

I'm fairly impressed by the way it brings up categories for specifics when you look up generics, and the related searches being on the side, instead of at the bottom of the page is probably going to be helpful when you just can't think of the specific word you're attempting to use during search.
Looking for the big affiliate stuff, Acai in this case, pretty much everything that isn't Wikipedia (at #1) is aff marketing.

Even without the "local" radio button switched, most of the results were from local sites, so it definitely seems to be geared towards finding shit that's near you if you're buying a good or a service. Not quite sure how useful this is going to be information wise.

By and large, I get the feeling that this search engine basically is driving you towards buying shit directly, as opposed to finding information that may lead you to buy shit...
Then again, the internet stopped being an "information superhighway" in the late 90s and just became a superhighway to a superfuckinghugemall...

Time to start figuring what Bing likes to rank people for...

I was wondering when this thread was going to happen. I was going to STFU about it until I figured out the answer to this question ...

As far as results are concerned, it's ok ... but at this point google is only marginally better since everyone hacks their algo.

One thing is for certain, since M$ is dumping 100 million into advertising bing in the next year, we're going to have a ton of random people trying it out. M$ tends to have dumb users already and since they're putting that 100MM into radio and tv it's only going to send more sheeple to this engine. This all adds up to high conversions and profit$.

People, I have seen significant jump in some of my malls, without me doing anything yet. Care to share what you have in mind to cru$h this?

I've always thought msn/bing's maps were superior to google's at times just for the birds eye view. kinda creepy, but nice feature for househunting

my spend for a campaign was like 40 yesterday... now its back to 30. anyone else?

i think their servers are a lil wacky

No chance. I still believe in market positioning. Coke = Google, pepci = yahoo + msn, the rest no one cares about.
Look at what they did with ZUNE - to late. Why waste all that money.

So here's something interesting. I threw up a new site on Saturday. Brand new domain. BAM within 24 hours Bing had it indexed. Still waiting on G and Y...

Compared to the $40B they wanted to give Yahoo, this Bing is a firesale caliber price!

If it was all about choice, I'd agree with you.
But four our purposes in marketing I believe it's about what's being forced on the below average consumer. These people are going to use the little search bar, or the address bar, in their browser... and most people browse with IE... and IE automatically uses MSN's search.
And the idiots that use that, are our jackpot market.
