Bing v Google: The Battle for Market share

Bing didn't increase market share because more people are using them, they just bought Yahoo and doubled their userbase. Their actual market share is only very slowly increasing

Whether those stats show that or not... the fact is google is still losing market share.

From what little time I have spent working with bing, they are way more sensitive to on page seo factors compared to google. Bing takes forever to account for all your backlinks too.

Not sure bing has anything like googles filter(sandbox) either and if they do ive never seen it. Even sites spammed to death still rank fine in bing.

Anyone know if these figures include mobile search? because if they don't, it's safe to say Google is absolutely raping that space which would push them well past Bing in total userbase

according to the dates in the above screenshot, all major engines have experienced the ebb and flow of userbase changes

Statcounter has Google at 90.12% for global searches (I can't comment on US).

Articles with stupid headlines like that annoy me. Stupid assumptions based on data from a single source and since when has Hitwise been an authority?! That Christina Warren has put me off reading anything more on Mashable.

I think google will probably lose out unless they come up with something either bigger than facebook or do some form of deal where facebook will integrate their search results like the did with Microsoft.

Google had Market Share of 73.9% in July 2010

Now they hold a 64.4% ?

I would say that is pretty substantial.

On top of that, Bings Query Volume grew 44% while Google grew by only 1.4%.

Revenues do not matter, this is market share.

I'd assume it's because of IE 9 which sets bing as it's default search , and windows 7 working better with IE than google chrome causing more people to use IE and causing more people to end up searching on bing , honestly i'm searching on Bing at times cause i'm too lazy to open a new tab and go to google or even to change my default browser search engine .

Bing is just buying up a lot of searches at the moment, they are dominating the toolbar space at the moment and while most people say they use google - a lot of retards just use whatever is the default search engine/toolbar search.

Guess what? Retarded traffic is worth a lot more than tech savy traffic.

Bing is following the money and I honestly don't think there #1 concern is to get the tech savy market - as it simply doesn't bring in the $$$.
