Big Ben Suspended for 6 Games

you mean joey harrington? he ruined it for you and you don't know his last name?
Joey Heatherton was a female celeb. Heatherington is a play on both of their names.

Like Joey BlueSkies but instead of mocking his cluelessness, I am mocking his manhood. Which if you ever saw him try to throw down field or sense a pass rush, would make perfect sense.

So yes, I do know his last name.

Go troll someone else.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I knew Harrington was a bad pick before they took him when during an interview he said he would rather play piano than football, but it wouldn't pay as well. Yet another reason why Matt Millen is permabanned from Michigan.

he's not going to Oakland, but now after all I'm reading and hearing, I think he could be traded, which honestly might not make Pittsburgh that unhappy. Old school philosophy, get rid of the bad seeds. They did the same thing with Joey Porter, who at the time was one of the best LB's in the league.

Then again, I agree with some, what happens off the field should not have the NFL involved. It's not against NFL rules to go to the bar and hook up with chics. If it was, Travis Henry would've been kicked out of the league after one year. I think the man has 8 kids with 8 different women.

I know he has a rep from college for being a jerk, but he does win, and has given the city 2 more rings. As a huge Steelers fan, I would be very pissed to see him go, because i think he can get a few more rings as a Steeler.

Actually, Porter was let go because of his age and the money he would have demanded to keep him.

I trust the Rooney's will do the right thing for the team. Big Ben needs to think with his big head and stop bangin' every hoodrat that's willing to give him some ass.

The Rooney's don't put up with too much shit, just ask Santonio Holmes. They run that franchise a certain way and they demand their players act a certain way. Doesn't matter if it was legal - he brought negative press on the team.

QFT

Everyone I know that has talked to BB says he's an asshole.

I'm hearing that the Rooney's would trade him if the offer was right, but it's more of a PR ploy than anything. They have to make it look like they are pissed as hell at him to keep the public off of their back. I don't think Ben is going anywhere.

1933 - 1936: Art Rooney keeps his new struggling franchise afloat with winnings from his racetrack gambling. Popular urban legend is that the team was initially bought with racetrack winnings, but it has been disputed by the later generation of Rooneys. (Source)

1970s: Multiple players on the 70s dynasty are either alleged to, or confirmed of taking steroids. While not illegal at the time, isn't this immoral? (No link, since this is pretty common knowledge)

March 1973: Lineman Ernie Holmes is arrested on the Ohio/PA turnpike for shooting at passing motorists and a police helicopter - sparking a manhunt that resulted in at least one officer being injured. He continued to play for the Steelers until 1977. (Source)

June 1996: Bam Morris pleads guilty to felony possession of marijuana. He was cut by Pittsburgh shortly after the guilty plea. (Source)

1997 - 2008: The Rooneys gambling interest in Florida (Palm Beach Kennel Club), New York (Yonkers Raceway), and elsewhere are in direct violation of NFL policy. Nothing is done until it becomes a front-page issue. (Source)

May 2002: Plaxico Burress is arrested and charged with public intoxication in Virgnia Beach. No action taken. Burress would have a breakout season that year, and would stay on the team until after the 2004 season. (Source)

October 2002: Jerome Bettis is accused of sexual assault against a woman seeking an autograph for her 2 year old son. Charges were not filed, and no disciplinary action was taken. Bettis, of course, would continue to play and be loved by fans and ownership alike until 2005. (Source)

February 2006: Offensive lineman Trai Essex is charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Four years later, Essex started 16 games at RG for the Steelers in 2009. (Source)

June 2006: Santonio Holmes, fresh off the draft board, is arrested for domestic violence and assault. This comes right on the heels of a Memorial Day weekend arrest for disorderly conduct after fighting with police. Charges were later dropped, and Holmes would remain on the team for the next 4 seasons, with no punishment for his repeated misconduct. (Source)

October 2007: Running back Najeh Davenport is charged for domestic violence, unlawful restraint, and endangering a child, after a fight with the mother of his 5 year old son. Davenport was found not guilty. Not only did Davenport stay on the roster until June of 2008...but after he was cut, he was resigned in September of 2008 after injuries to Parker and Mendenhall. He was released again on November 8th, and resigned again for a week on November 27th. Obviously weren't worried about "Dookie's" character. (Source)

March 2008: Cedrick Wilson is accused of punching an ex-girlfriend in the face. As an expendable wide low-ranking receiver, he was cut hours later. (Source)

March 2008: James Harrison is arrested and charged with simple assault and criminal mischief after a domestic altercation with his girlfriend. Charges were dropped after Harrison completed anger management. No disciplinary action was taken, and to this day Harrison is one of the highest paid linebackers in the league. (Source)

October 2008: Santonio Holmes is arrested and cited for possession of marijuana. He received a benching of one game. (Source)

October 2009: Jeff Reed is cited for simple assault, resisting arrest, disordely conduct, and public drunkenness after scuffling with police officers outside of a Pittsburgh bar. This was a second run-in with the law, after the famous "paper towel dispenser" fiasco. The team invoked no discipline, and today Reed has been franchised, and is one of the most highly paid kickers in the league. (Source)

This is a short list. But not counting what the Rooneys themselves have done, I count 10 different players either being accused, arrested, or charged. Some found guilty, some not. All guilty of staining the Steelers reputation. Out of those 10 - two were cut as a result. Morris and Wilson. Eight remained on the team for multiple seasons after their incidents.

I have to agree that Godell has been consistent. He does hold the players, everyone that gets paid by the NFL to a higher standard.

Do I think 6 games is fair? My thoughts are he was not convicted of a crime, but he did put himself and the organizations in a bad spot and there is now a pattern of stupidity.

Assuming he goes through with the evaluations etc, it will only be 4 games. That seems a bit more reasonable.

um, he is a good QB, and has two rings to show for it. The penalty is completely unfair. Ray Lewis killed a man, and never got any suspension. Michael Irvin put more coke up his nose in public that Escobar and never got suspended.

Goodell is on a power trip, and is pretty much saying NFL Law trumps legal law. Ben is also the first NFL player to be suspended for something that he was not charged/convicted of in the court of law.

Total BS

lol. You obviously are a team fan and not a football fan. Ray Lewis never killed a man, that was Donte Stallworth. Plus, it wasn't that serious since he only got like 30 days in jail. I never payed attention to football when Irvin was playing, but pretty sure he only did drugs(publicly) AFTER retiring. So he can't get in trouble from Goodell.

What happened last year if Big Ben was such a good QB? Oh thats right, the defense got hurt and couldn't help the mistakes he makes.

How does it feel Steeler fans to lose the season already and its only April?

Wow - I guess 6 rings brings out lots of haters.

You clearly have no understanding of the case or what happened. It's cool though, continue making accusations.

I've read plenty on it. Lewis and two other dudes got into a fight, in which 2 other men died via stabbing. Lewis LIED, then rolled over on his two pals in exchange for dropped charges.

Lewis has paid off both families. Because he's innocent, of course.

Since BoFu had to post Ed Reed, at least I will show one against the Steelers, especially since I am getting no Steeler love up in here.
