Bevo Media Launch

Late to the party as usual, but I put in an app in. Looking forward to trying it out.

If I run relatively low traffic, would a shared hosting setup work? Would I need to setup a domain name in that scenario?

In my efforts to conserve API calls, I'm setting up my campaigns outside of Bevo and just importing the Bevo tracking code into my destination URL in Yahoo when I set up my ads.

This will work with Bevo, right?

If I setup the campaign through BEVO it eats a ton of API calls right or am I causing more work for myself?

Secondly, when setting up a campaign in the tracker and working on the Yahoo network do you have to add "{keyword}" at the end of my affiliate link into the Bevo tracker and leave it out in Yahoo (since Yahoo automatically inputs it)?

We don't support shared hosting, at all, period. I've seen one guy get it to work, but we don't support it and it causes lots of headaches (especially GoDaddy, one-and-one, HostGator).
Please get a VPS or something you have root control over. If you don't want to order a whole new server, let us do it for you with our Rackspace server setup wizard.

You never need a domain; you can setup your tracking using just your server's IP address.

That should be fine. The Campaign Editor doesn't cost "a ton" of API calls unless you've got a ton of keywords/advars/adgroups, so I encourage you to use it anyway, but we don't force it on you.
We're still tweaking all the values for API costs, etc. Campaign editor shouldn't be costing you a fortune; if it is, please hit me up on aim (bevoleeward) and we'll discuss your precise usage.

Damn finally I'm not messing around wasting time with shit that should be automated... and thanks a lot Ryan for making sure I got set up fast. It was pretty easy though.

um i havent received any email from bevo since i registered on it month ago about the self hosted version ?

Can you track campaigns from multiple sites? For example, if I were to purchase banner ads on 10 different sites, could I track each one?

TBH, I've spend all of 10 mins with the platform and couldn't figure out how to add anything other than Google / MSN / Yahoo.

Your account is enabled; if you didn't get the email, send me a PM.
Bevo is the shit. I was using t202 before but bevo really hit the ball out of the park with this one.
Thanks for the kind words :)

Sounds like you went to the PPC Management tab; this is only for people doing PPC text ads. If you're just trying to run a media buy, go to Keyword Tracker tab, choose Create Codes, and select "Other Media Buy". You can send all 10 sites to the same campaign, or set each one up with it's own.

K guys, a couple things that are bugging me:

1. The non-self-hosted is slow. Can't speak for the selfhosted but it worries me that the redirects will also be slow since the interface already is.

2. Can't use {keyword:Ad Title} for adwords ads... also if i use {keyword} I hope it'll work..not sure

3. Is there any way you can move the "generate direct link URL" to within the campaign creation page? I'm having to copy the dest url to notepad and then paste in later, and anytime I forget to do it I have to exit out of the PPC module completely which involves dicking around saving it, then once I come back in, trying to restore the entire session, and once in awhile parts of that session are completely gone (ie what just happened to me)...all this just to find/generate a URL... really annoying. I actually slammed my hands on my keybaord b/c of this one

Bizzy - we are significantly optimizing the the non-self hosted version reporting. There's obviously room for MySQL optimization there.

The {Keyword: Ad title} is an easy fix, we've been aware of this for a while, but i will make that adjustment high priority.

Your 'Send direct link URL to Campaign Editor' issue - I'll look into a method to make this more convenient for you. Shouldn't be a problem.
