I'm thinking about upgrading my verizon account to a smartphone with unlimited data. Effective tomorrow, new users will be capped at 2GB per month for the same $30 as their current unlimited plan. If you sign up for the plan today, you can still be grandfathered into the unlimited plan for $30 / mo.

My question is...which smartphone is the best, in your opinion, from the verizon lineup?

Depends if you fall in to a 4G LTE area, I don't so I'm going with what I have a Droid X2. Use to have an iPhone, but that shit's for the birds.

lol, they're fucking you in the ass. You can get unlimited 3G data with unlimited texts and some voice minutes for $25/month from Virgin Mobile (Sprint). No contract. I use one of their phones to tether my netbook.

Yep, 4G LTE went live here in Milwaukee on June 14.

If I upgrade through amazon, I can get the Samsung Droid Charge for $200. Anyone have that phone?

Hmm, let's see....3g vs 4g, "some voice", and shitty coverage. I'll pass, but thanks for the input.

If you live in a 4G area, cool, but most people don't. My point is you can get an entire second phone, with all of those options, for less than they charge you for a basic data plan.

can you bring an iphone there?

My husband tried two of the latest and greatest Verizon phones, and I wish I could remember which ones, but he hates both of them. The phones are alright, but the Verizon network is horrible compared to the others around here. Sadly we live 15 miles outside of Houston and about 5 miles from NASA, so you'd think they'd have some decent towers. He's going back to the iPhone. Maybe the network in your area for Verizon is better than it is here, though.

Rumor has it there will be a Samsung Galaxy S2 available for Verizon in July. Might be something to consider.

I have the Thunderbolt, biggest piece of shit.

Unless you like your phone being difficult to use.

Once the iPhone 5 is out, i'm switching.

I was just in this situation as my original droid crapped out last night. Went in wanting either the Tunderbolt or Incredible 2 but after weighing my options I ended up going with an iPhone. Never wanted to jump on the Apple bandwagon, but the shit just works and I was fucking tired of plugging my phone in every couple of hours due to the horrendous battery life on all droid phones.
