Best Uni degree for IM?

the only backup plan is death. fuck college. man up and do shit on your own. you can learn 99.9% of whatever you need to learn to make money (which isn't much) online.

i hate these threads. so much weakness.

Yeah, being educated is for idiots.

getting a degree != being educated

said nothing about education not being valuable. a COLLEGE education, however, is a different story.

Don't need one, but it doesn't hurt to have one either.

One that you can actually use could be beneficial.

Examples, A law degree could help if you want to defend yourself from the FTC etc. when making or slanging bullshit offers.

A (good) business degree could help you in your day to day processes.

And even a fucking music degree could help you make jingles for your stupid YouTube infomercials or background music for the scenes on your niche midget porn website.

There's nothing like experience though, degrees give you experience to an extent but you have to fail time and time again to succeed.

So in a nutshell, if you think you can benefit from it, do it. If it fucks up, learn from it and keep going.

A college education is valuable if you put in the work. If you just skate by and do as little as possible then I'd say you have a college degree, but not a college education.

Personally, I've taken several college classes and never worried about the degree. Every class has helped me grow in some way or another. However, not everyone is suited for college level courses and would do better in vocational schools.

Honestly dude, I don't think it's valuable even if you do put in the work. The majority of shit that is taught in your average university is not that valuable for running a business. And I think that time could be better spent on actually creating something, learning by doing, going out and networking, etc.

However, with that said I would not mind sitting in on some classes in princeton, harvard, yale, etc. If there's a legit professor who actually knows what he's talking about. And I think there's undoubtedly some real value in going to a top tier school like that -- the connections you get have are ridiculous.

I think though, for the most part, your average degree (from your average school) is basically worth nothing and to me is just a piece of paper that says "this person is somewhat competent". Not that everyone who gets a degree is a moron, but that's basically all I see it as.

I think that ultimately, your success in doing what you want to do is going to be up to you, your persistence/desire, hustle, etc. You definitely don't need college to get there.

Also just wanted to say that I truly don't believe in falling back on a college degree as a backup plan (to get a job? ugh) and feel like people who use it as such are probably not as committed to their goals as they should/could be.

But whatever, to each their own. Do what makes you happy.

It's become such a norm in society to go into post-secondary education that OP probably has some pressure from family and friends. Regardless, I think it's a good idea to attend a college or university just for the social aspects alone. I learned very little in high school that I can think of, but boosted my social skills exponentially. I plan to do the same in college.

If you're going to hustle harder then the other 99% and be your own boss, then you're free to choose whatever you'd like to learn about in university and label it as a fall back, or plan B. Choose what sounds the most interesting to you, maybe your weakest skill that you'd like to improve, or even something related to IM like Advertising if you want to apply some of your self-taught knowledge.
