I believe he bought the house and found it while renovating. It had a wall built around he that he tore out. It's technically his.

There was a story similar last year where the people found trash bags of cash in a house they bought.

People die, get arrested, etc reasons they never come back to get their valuables.

However, after reading that top comment, watching his 2 year old clearly crease some of the cards, combined with the fact the OP hasn't posted in 12 hours (Yappy dog ate half the cards, 2 year old drooled on and creased the rest?) I'm raging a little.
