Umm what do you call this then?

Just because your NOT running windows doesn't mean that you are 100% safe. Running linux you still need to worry about your box being compromised.

I'll Have a go then.

My anti-virus is called OS X. No Windows = No Viruses

One thing PC users can do that Mac users can't:

gotta love maddox

I use kaspersky btw.

As far as the topic....

I had AVG for the longest time. Yesterday I got a nasty Trojan that kept disabling my computer. I tried everything, and AVG still said there wasn't a problem. I switched to avast, so far so good.

If you use Comcast as your cable provider you can download McAfee for free

SECURITY - MCAFEE SECURITY MANAGER - Comcast.net

you hate Comcast users don't you. Using McAfee is like telling a blind and deaf homeless guy to watch your Fararri, it's useless.

Hmm... An application in disguise. You have to double click it, twice, to make it do anything. Is that a virus?

Oh, and sorry for hijacking the thread :)

Definition from wikipedia:

A computer vrius is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without permission or knowledge of the user.

I've used them all, and they all miss something or other that the other one picked up, and vice versa. I was using ZoneAlarm for it's AV and Firewall for years, then I decided to buy it because I liked it so much, now I hate it. It fucked things up for me for days. Screw them! I just use a damn good firewall now and run "Hijackthis" every week to pick up whatever crap my Windows AV may have missed, no problems anymore.

Anyone use ClamWin? It's opensource...

If I had to use a free scanner it would be ClamWin. My only gripes are that there's no automatic background scanning like with most other products. The scanning engine is also a bit on the sluggish side if you're doing a large scan.

Never had issues with AVG...I guess I'll have to check the NOD32 thingy, though...
