So here's the situation: I've been lurking here, studying up on affiliate marketing for around 6 months. The only thing holding me back from diving in like a maniac has been the fact that I've been working a really high stress job at Go Daddy that was leaving me with absolutely no creativity/ bandwidth/ will to live.

I am pleased to say that is no longer the case as of last Friday and I am ready to jump into the AM game and get my hands dirty. I already am a publishing with one network mentioned here pretty frequently, but so far, I haven't been very impressed with my AM.

I was wondering if any of you had any recommendations as to whether or not there are any quality networks out there who might be willing to take a chance on someone with a lot of web related experience but basically none when it comes to affiliate marketing?

Also, if anyone else has any pearls of wisdom for me, I would be grateful.

Damn quit your dayjob without any sort of stability in the AM game? That takes some balls man, good luck!

Neverblue was one of the first networks I applied to when I was noob status and they let me in no prob

Not sure if he quit or got fired, but depending on your money situation this isn't a good ideal, and you should have persevered and worked AM on the side of your current job.
Beginners should Bum Market and use their profits for CPC or small CPM. They should only spend 5-10% of their current "AM" money per campaign, so not too risk too much. I don't know what to tell you OP, i had no problem getting into networks, but there not your solution to your problems. Just try and apply, and pretend you know what your doing. talk a big game if you have too.
Also if you don't like your Affiliate Manager, fire him/her, i do it all the time, it's made all the difference in the world too.
Start reading and working your ass off, if your new, then those stupid guru blogs can be of some assistance some time you just need a base to start and get motivated and get working from there.
