Maybe providing him with some constructive criticism ("we're all about search engine optimization, so I would like iconography related to "looking", "searching", "first ranking", etc...) would help you get a product closer to your liking.

You clearly know nothing about design nanexo, the first logo he did for you (pictured above) is really nice. Very nice typography and subtle branding... What did you want exactly? People pay thousands for simple typographic logos all the time and you're complaining about one you got for $35? ...

That is a good point actually. I don't see a big problem with what was done for you. It's not deserving of the monikers "crap" and "shit" that's for sure, and with a few tweaks might have turned into something fabulous. You even admitted that the second logo "doesn't look half bad", you just don't get the S part. To me it looks like a bunch of rubber balls ala the Sony Bravia commercials. Perhaps they represent things people might be looking for?
