Your choice?

I use aweb and icontact.

Why?

1. Deliverability rates

2. Diversify risk

3. Smart segmenting

Icontact also allows for single opt-in, which is risky as fuck but the option IS there.

TIP FOR AWEB:
When doing a blast, go look at stats the next day (or 2-3..) - and create a partition/segment for JUST the people that did NOT open.

Now create a new blast for just those NOT opened ones.

Send them the SAME email you did yesterday but change the subject, you missed the mark.

Repeat a few times and you'll milk your list without hurting it too much as you are just following up with non-opens and different titles.

I've doubled/tripled income doing this one thing ;) Don't just blast once to a great offer if it converts, squeeze it dry over a week/period properly.

typo... should have been single optin

I do some client work for a local pizza shop using mailchimp, when customers fill out their email address to receive a coupon via email, you can just enter in their email address as long as you "promise" it wasn't through shady method and that the people receiving the emails opted in somewhere, so if you were getting single opt ins you could just type or import the emails in.

why not use constant contact and aweber?
Maybe because of this?
AWeber Database Hacked, Email Addresses Stolen. Again. | BustSpammers.com

Yes, second time! And they didn't even notify list owners and they don't give a shit because most subscribers will never know about AWeber. I had to get angry emails from my readers first before I investigated and found the blog post. Not a beep from AWeber to me.

You're putting YOUR business reputation on the line when customers trust you with their email. Your subscribers think you sold their email address when they suddenly get spam. Happened to me and it's not funny!

Once - maybe a hacker just got really lucky.
Twice - there's seriously something wrong with your security!

+rep amazing how such simple things can be missed.

I just want to ask if the constant aweber breaches have hurt your list in any way? I've never built a list before so I just want to know what would be the best platform to start building a list off.

Thanks

If you're going the aweber route , get one of their resellers , same deliverability with a MUCH lower price.

How does one find their resellers?

Also do customer service queries go through the reseller or through Aweber itself?

Tks!

It sure has hurt mine. I've had a couple people unsubscribe and one guy emailing me pointing out that my privacy policy says I will never share their email address, and how he understands the breach is not my fault but AWeber's, yet that's not his problem because he gave his email address to me and not to AWeber, so he could hold me responsible and whatever issues I have with my outsourcing providers I could then clear up with them.

I don't know how much claim there is to that, but it's definitely a headache I can very well live without.

And I find it appalling how Aweber dealt with the whole situation.
