Going out and looking for 'atheist music' is ghey.

At the end of the day people are people, atheists are douchebags and religious people are douchebags.

I don't think believing in God is stupid by any means but believing in religion certainly is. In my book, if you believe in a religion you are stupid. And not only that 90% of Christians I meet are douchebags (this is probably different in the US because it's normal to be a Christian). If you're a Christian in the UK and I meet you the chances of me liking you are slim. The fact that you're a Christian doesn't come into it, there is just a correlation between douchebaggery and being a Christian.

Lol, it's kind of like vegetarians, I sort of see their point but even if I cared enough to not eat meat I'd still eat it because I wouldn't want to be associated with those whiney faggots.

Simply put, you're a tool.

Some atheists are bearable in an argument and can understand points on each side. Most, like yourself, are stubborn and pompous, and pointless to argue with.

You can say the same about religious people who argue with atheists, can you not? If you say that's not the case then I'm sorry but you're just ignorant.

I feel bad for atheists actually, from what I've seen they're generally the most sad and lost group of people out there...ironic.

Strange. The vast majority of the UK are atheists, do you think my whole nation is sad and lost? Hopefully not, lol. I guess you're talking about militant atheists :D

Ok. So what do you believe in.
Eugenics is largely influenced by Darwin's ideas and his early followers.
Atheism, Macro Evolution, Darwin its basically the same crap.

Do you really want to get into this?

Evolution is a scientific theory, you can be an atheist without believing in it.

I realize it's odd.

However, you don't live in America where you're surrounded by them (theists) everyday of the week.

So, I just want to mix in the occasional overtly atheist song into my playlist occasionally. (It's just nice...)

I can see where in Great Britain you've guys have got it stripped down to where only the outcasts partake in any "named religion". Deism on the other hand would be acceptable (maybe that's what you're refering to in as belief in god over there). Deists don't believe in any revealed "revelations". (Hence, they're quite benign and not dangerous since they don't think they "know" what "god" is thinking)

It would be nice......

And it's not too ghey.... I mean it's a little Square.... but not ghey..... (and I am finding it, so it exists......)

As far as I'm concerend, "militant" atheists that proclaim their disbelief every chance they get are just as bad as bible thumpers knocking on my door or hounding me as I walk my ladies into the abortion clinic.

The reason I like Bad Religion is because, contrary to what many people think based on their name, their lyrics are very open-minded and insightful at the same time. And when singer Greg Graffin talks about atheism, he has a positive attitude about it. Also unknown to most folks is that he holds a PHD in zoology as well as a masters in geology (for those of you that believe in diplomas).

Graffin even co-authored a book with a devout theist/professor called Is Belief In God Good, Bad, or Irrelevant? that I strongly recommend you guys check out.

YouTube- Atheist Peace - Bad Religion

this is exactly why i love 90's hardcore. the people who spoke about ideas that could be extreme were doing it in an educated, powerful way.

one of my favorite speakers on subjects such as religion and such is Greg Bennick, who fronted the band Trial. seeing that man speak about his ideals in an extremely well educated, articulate fashion is better than dipshits who just say "you're dumb for believing in god". he recently gave a speech at TED and it was one of the best TED speeches i've seen yet.

on a completely unrelated note, how funny was it when greg gaffin got caught sending nakedz to young girls HAHA

Darwin wrote about the 'survival of the fittest', the way things evolve and develop. Nature is brutal, you think that's a reason that it's not true?

Don't believe in evolution? Check this out:

Also Rusky, I've asked you this before and you've not answered, could you say approximately how old you believe the Earth is?

Fuck you all.

I read the first 30 or so posts last night and stayed up to 3 a.m watching YouTube videos of arguments back and forth.

I will say that in North America, i'm in Canada, it is different because most people say they are a Christian. (Whether they are or not is a whole different story of course.)

I also grew up in a Christian school where every week for an hour you listened to someone say how correct the bible is. I don't consider myself a Christian, never really have, but accepted it as one of those maybe things you'll figure out later in life.

My stance right now - after watching a video series i'll post later in this post - is that there are some holes in evolution. (I've watched days worth of videos on the iffy facts of it.)

But what I've really noticed through watching videos last night is that there are also a lot of holes in the Bible that are pretty big. The biggest thing that got me is when Jesus was raised up into the sky, I don't remember when that happened but apparently it did, where did he go? There's nothing above the clouds but space - correct?

I suppose saying where did evolution start, how was there nothing and than something, how have we come this far, etc is just as crazy as saying, where did God come from.

Anyway here's the video I watched. It is an older one by the looks of it but I really encourage you to watch the whole thing. I've always wanted to see two of the 'best' go at it and apparently these two are the best. (Sorry if this has been posted before and I haven't seen it.)

If atheists sound pompous or like assholes.. it's because we just still can't believe how many people still believe in obvious fairy tales.

I mean dude.. fairy tales..

It's not just that the religious stories are lies.. it's that they're so out there that they're completely obvious fairy tales.

I can understand believing in a somewhat believable lie.. but believing in ridiculous stories is a whole other thing.

And why? Because their childhood community told them this fairy tale. Meanwhile, Christians laugh at other community's fairy tales (religions) and even go to war over different fairy tales. I mean that's just fucking hilarious. People base their lives, deaths, politics, etc around these fairy tales...

Dont want to start up. I already told you evolution is there. Its just on a micro level. Really dont want to start this again - FULL TIME JOB possible. As for the age of the earth I simply dont know.

Not going to crash the atheist thread again. If someone wants to continue, another tread would be more appropriate. Goodbye.

You haven't read the bible have you?

Stalin's estimated at 67 million. Mao somewhere around 80 million. Lenin, a respectable 22 million. If you're insinuating Christianity or acts in the Bible killed more than just these three figures combined, that's a joke considering how the world population was much smaller back then.

Of course, I only mention this because atheists insist on piously ranting about the "Crusades" while conveniently ignoring their own dirty laundry.

Why wouldn't there be holes in evolution? The science of evolution is incredibly young. We don't know a lot of shit, however, the theory supports its weight by tons of compelling, scientific evidence and studies.

Why would you inject theology into scientific holes, which are simply things we haven't figured out or discovered yet? Just because there is a hole, doesn't mean the great big invisible pink unicorn in the sky did it.

......and none of it was done in the name of atheism. Atheism had nothing to do with it. This argument is old and tired and needs to be put to rest.

The difference is that the numerous religious wars / bombings / the crusades / inquisitions etc etc etc were done in the name of, or because of religion. Mao and Stalin did what they did for there own reasons, not in the name of Atheism... Hitler was a Catholic, but the second world war wasn't a holy war, Hitler was just a nutcase.

As well as being Atheists Stalin and Lenin also happened to have mustaches, do you think thats also a reason they killed all those people?

What missing link? The crocoduck? Another tired old argument. I don't feel like mustering up debates when we start so damn low.

Besides, looks like Cameron found one anyway...look he managed to get a picture of one.

Here's another caught in the wild.

Crocoduck.jpg

RichardDawkins.net Store - Crocoduck T-Shirt .....lols

I mean your argument is literally a joke.

I'll just steal someone else's response.....

"The fact that some transitional fossils are not preserved does not disprove evolution. Evolutionary biologists do not expect that all transitional forms will be found and realize that many species leave no fossils at all. Lots of organisms don't fossilize well and the environmental conditions for forming good fossils are not that common. So, science actually predicts that for many evolutionary changes there will be gaps in the record."

"Also, scientists have found many transitional fossils. For example, there are fossils of transitional organisms between modern birds and their theropod dinosaur ancestors, and between whales and their terrestrial mammal ancestors."

For anyone else concerned: There's a good song up there ^^^^ that pokes fun at Cameron titled "Crocoduck": Tribute to Cameron and Ray. It's good.
