Are you losing rankings as well?

A lot of red flags are raised with affiliate sites. Many of these sites have little to no original content.

One of the most important steps in improving your site's ranking in Google search results is to ensure that it contains plenty of rich information that includes relevant keywords, used appropriately, that indicate the subject matter of your content.

If your site has been removed from our search results, review our Webmaster Guidelines (https://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769) for more information.

Am I being Punked?

I was about to ask the same thing...

I haven't lost any ranking, my sites have jumped in ranking. My secret? There is none.

That's the secret. Work and stop playing this game of trying to get the most for the least value added...It's what's wrong with pretty much everything in our world today

I'll just leave this here.

Did a 1k social bookmarking package with a 9 anchors a few days ago and all rankings went to shit.. From being in the top10 to not being in the top 1k anymore. I just noticed this!

I'vet been noticing a lot of people get fucked from gaming social bookmarking. COMMON THEME GUISE?

I've been dancing like crazy lately - from top 3 to out of "top" 1000 and back etc., but ONLY on sites that used high PR private blog networks, so guess the links are getting flagged/deindexed :/
+ seems like there is a pretty big change rolling out as we speak

What makes you think link building isnt going to help sort things out. Also, if shit is going to blow over, how long do you think it will take?

This has never happened to me in 4 years so don't know how to deal with it!

I think if it's not bounced back by 2 weeks to 2 1/2 weeks, I don't think it will be back anytime soon.

I've tried to link build my way out of slaps before and it's never worked so I dunno. Maybe it will work but I've tried quality links, small amounts of links, retardedly large amounts of links like SGW, and more links never gets me out of a slap.

After investigating what happened on my sites i got 1 piece of the fucking google puzzle..

I got 24 sites. 11 sites are with hostgator and the other are with the unknown hosting names. Anyways all the 9 sites that got hit are with my hostgator account. So to say I'm building the same kind of links to "All" my sites. But why did the other sites didn't got hit?

I'm not saying this is the final shit. But this is just my conclusion of what happened on my sites. 9 sites are with hostgator and before this happened I am putting up "NOT A SPAM" Scrapebox links (The one where you harvest your competitors backlinks and put it in your site) into only 1 site and all other 8 including the one with scrapebox got slapped. I mean 1 site with scrapebox but all 9 got down. All other sites are going good with the same backlinking strategy just with a different hosting package.

Thing is though, how do we know that these are slaps? Could just be link devaluation (I doubt this personally) or algorithm tweak/fucking overhaul.

One thing I will say thought is that each of my sites that have been hit were being worked on by a SB provider. I sold a site a few days prior to using these social bookmarks and it had exactly the same profile as my other sites - it hasn't been hit though.

Could the SBs be causing my problem?

I have about 60 sites I am actively working on. 95% of them are on hostgator. The two that got hit are not on hostgator. One is on rackspace and I don't remember who hosts the other.

Everyone is throwing around wild ideas and none of them make sense.

It's either an algo change or some sort of weird fuckup by Google and shit will come back in a couple weeks. It maybe some type of link devaluation but that doesn't add up because of my 60 sites, one of the two that got hit is clean of blog networks. The other has had ALN. And the other 58 sites have had heavy ALN, SB, blog commenting, xrumer, and a slew of other nasty shit and they are all doing fantastic.

So yea.

For the people loosing ranking.

Mr. Matt Cutts,

It seems like your recent algo updates have added increased scrutiny to offsite anchor diversity. If so, how do you prevent sabotaging competitors SERP rankings by shady webmasters? It would seem rather easy with the way I have ruined some of my own sites. ;) Blast said website with a million articles with one keyword = page 6 drop.
