Kaspersky CEO: Apple Is “10 Years Behind Microsoft In Terms Of Security” | Cult of Mac

One of the main reasons many of us turned to Apple’s machines and its OS X operating system is the belief that the company’s software is more secure than Windows, its biggest rival. However, Eugene Kaspersky, CEO and co-founder of Kaspersky, one of the industry’s leading security specialists, believes that Apple is “10 years behind Microsoft in terms of security,” and that Apple need to invest more into security audits for its software.

Of course they are behind. Windows was under attack for so long, they know ins and outs. Apple just now starting to get heat close to their ass. It's only gonna get worse. Just because it's based on BSD doesn't mean shit in a grand scale. There are hundreds of developers that can make mistakes in code layer well above kernel and compromise the system.

Ya, like hackers never found a way around anti viruses, protection, etc... It's just a matter of time. Nothing is 100% secure.

openBSD has one exploit in its history. I think if you are using gatekeeper you are 99% safe.

unix is just inherently more secure for a lot of reasons.
