The HumanScale Freedom chair is the most comfortable chair I've ever set on. It has a head rest and it can lock into a reclining position so it's great of leaning back and brainstorming. It's around the same price as the Aeron.
That said, the Aeron has a nice "lean forward" position, so if you're working on a laptop it's probably more comfortable than other chairs.
Btw for the person that asked about staying cool... The mesh Aeron is cooler than the Embody, but the Embody is made of a new mesh+fabric material that's supposed to be cooler than regular fabric used on most chairs.

+1 for the HumanScale Freedom Chair... I sat in one of these things a few months ago and it was nicer than my bed. Then I looked at the price tag, got up, and slowly walked away expecting someone to charge me for the three minutes I was in it.
Ok all this talk about chairs made me realize I seriously need an upgrade from my shitty chair. I went over to a dealer today and tried out the Aeron, Mira, Embody, and Humanscale. Wanted to try the Obusforme too but didn't have it in stock.
Anyway...here's the deal
I seriously started thinking some of you were crazy for spending $1k on a chair until I sat in the freakin' Aeron today. A big smile came over me after a few seconds. This thing is amazing. It was the first one I tried, then checked out the Humanscale. It's not bad but it's not customizable, sure it conforms to your body and is very flexible and has a head rest but it just didn't do it for me like the Aeron.
The Mirra is a pretty decent chair too, very comfy. The Embody, I don't know what all the hype is about really. It certainly was really comfortable but for me definitely on par or less than the Aeron. For the $400+ more it's really not worth it IMO.

Excellent. A good chair makes going to work (even if it's just down the hall from your bedroom) that much more tolerable. Just like having a bigger monitor is like having a bigger prison window.

Glad to see some people are still updating this, especially with the Harley Davidson chair. Could have done without seeing #40 back there though, crop that shit.
I went ahead and ordered the Embody, and got a decent deal on it. $1275 shipped with the upgraded fabric and casters. I think it ships the 15th so once it gets here and I sit in it a couple days I'll let you know if I'm pissed at myself or not.

Got my embody chair today. It's quite the contraption. I've spent most of the day dialing it in and figuring it out.
It feels pretty awesome though, and I actually really like all the adjustments since you can make it fit you like a glove. I've got a very touchy back, and usually slump into horrible posture through the day and I feel like this is really helping me sit up straight without being uncomfortable.
I got it at a very good price so I was skeptical that it would come in correctly, but it did, and now the big price tag seems well worth it.
