Anybody ever use SugarSync?

I looked into a lot of these services about a year ago. I was mainly looking for something that could sync my files in addition to backing them up. I didn't like SugarSync, but can't remember why. I think it may have been slow or something like that. After trying at least 5-10 services around the same time, I settled on Spider Oak. I liked the interface much better than anything else I tried. The interface was a bit slow, but it was more intuitive than any of the other services. I no longer use the service, so it's possible that they have improved the software since then.

If by auto-sync files you mean to edit a file, save it and get it to update on other computers then yes, it does auto-sync files.

Oh, I found it. It's under "Lan-Sync". Hmmm...

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work for me. I've edited files on my desktop that were also added to dropbox and they didn't sync. I had to copy and paste into dropbox to update the dropbox version. PITA.

Basically, I'm not enamoured with dropbox. It's too basic.

I'm looking for something that can act as a backup, but also allow me to share files with people. SpiderOak seems to be what I'm looking for. Testing it out right now.

Then make your changes directly from dropbox dumbshit. Are you too stupid to understand how dropbox works?

Dropbox is awesome. It has auto sync and you can share folders with anybody you want to. Log into your account and you can setup sharing from there. I have no problems editing files in my dropbox and having them sync automatically to all my other devices.

I also like the fact the Dropbox gives you 2 gig absolutely free right off the rip.

Truth. And you can get an extra 3GB from referrals.

Dropbox sucks because you have to keep everything in one fucking folder.

Not true. You can download the v0.8 off the forums that's still in development and choose folders outside of your Dropbox folder to sync. They are still developing all the features of this selective sync.

I have Thunderbird, XAMPP, Eclipse, etc. all in my Dropbox folder to sync multiple computers. Anything that will allow editing rights (not MS Word while running) will backup in real-time. Everything else will when you close the program accessing the file.

You can share a folder with a Dropbox user so they can access your files, or you can just copy a version in to your Public folder and give them the link to download by right-clicking the file and choosing the Dropbox options.
