Out here in Phoenix, more and more of these incubators / accelerators / startup offices are popping up. Earlier this year, I did some research and found out about the more reputable places.

So far, I know this:

  1. It would've cost us $50/mo. for regular business hour access to the building
  2. You could pay more for 24/7 building access
  3. We needed to supply ourselves
  4. We would have worked in close proximity to a lot of networking opportunities
  5. They would give your company a link on their site
  6. They would help promote your efforts and major milestones
I wasn't really sure how incubator spaces made money, especially after learning how much office furniture/structure cost. Someone told me they take a percentage of your company?

Just looking for any first-hand experiences with these spaces. $50/mo. seemed worth the networking opportunities alone.

These were the two more reputable locations out here:

What say you?

???

Why would u want to work out of one of these.. I'm lost

I thought you were on the big island? lol. Phoenix blows.

I had a friend who used to spend a lot of time at Gangplank. No idea what happened to him, but about 3 years ago he vanished online... maybe they made him walk the plank? Bad joke. Anyway, he really liked it there.

All I got.

Thanks for the input.

Moved out here in January. The culture at Gangplank was awesome, but the only real active location of theirs is about an hour drive away.

I recently made a thread about coworking

Make sure u find a good space

Incubators dont take equity unless they actually put in money (ycombinator being the most well known probably)

Beat me to it. Was just going to recommend Andrew's thread.

Seems like an easy decision to me based off the networking and connections.

My dad actually does free legal counseling out at the Gangplank in Chandler. I've gone a few times when I'm in town. Definitely seemed like a cool place and I would work from there if I was living in the area.

i had a idea recently to do an extended working camping trip where i'd set up a primitive camp remotely, wake up, hit a local gym, go to a co-working facility, come back to camp & build a fire, cook my dinner, enjoy nature, crash, repeat. seemed like a good way to spend the summer.

the hitch wound up being the co-working spots... i'd have been better off working via wifi at the local mcdonalds. i wanted a desk and reliable internet; they wanted a partner... particularly because my specialty is management consulting, it was 10k biz questions/hr. eventually i figured i could find a flat surface & wifi elsewhere.

Management consulting you say? You work for any of the big names?
