Sadism is specifically erotic in nature and when taken to the extreme, it is the basis for crimes of passion. The key term is cruelty. Whenever someone talks about sadism, I always think about that scene in Pulp Fiction with Zed and the gimp in the box. If you ever have a couple years to kill, try reading some of this guy's stuff:

As mentioned in the dictionary itself thats only 1 of a few definitions. When you cannot objectively participate in a game, gaining some satisfaction from blasting a guy's face with a chain gun could be considered sadistic in nature.
