And they wonder why the teen pregnancy rate is rising...

That graph is misleading.
First of all it starts in the 70s right when it spiked from almost nowhere, and the bottom starts at 15 not 0, the change wouldn't seen less drastic over the past 20 years, and very drastic compared to 50-60s. If there was no agenda putting it together.

If they hear the so-meaningful lyrics of...

...what can you expect?

lol, how is it misleading? Clearly, the abortion rate is no where near it's highest point.

The spike is from abortion being legal nationwide in 1973.

this really is a non story - what's worrying the OP took the time to watch this and then post about it...looks like you missed out on some ass in your teens...i know how it feels...ywan :)

i was banging chicks when i was still riding the bus to school. never got anyone pregnant. feelsgoodman.

OP is obviously still a virgin.

Also - Chlamydia prevalence rates amongst adolescent girls are on the rise in many areas:

Annoyingly with those stats, they don't tell you what the error bars are, so it's tough to tell if they are significant or not.

@turbolapp - unless of course your sexually active relationship is with an older woman (well, she was 17) who leads you astray :D

I would bet it has to do with better sex education. Where there is less abstinence and more contraceptive training there's probably less preggo.

“We are teaching what we believe our community is in favor of us teaching, which is abstinence based education." - statement from Texas school district

U.S. Teen Pregnancy Rates Down, Texas Rates Up - KTXS Abilene

It seriously amazes me how people don't get the concept of busting a nut in a vagina leading to a baby,

Not if you drink Mountain Dew first and do it while facing the north pole.

In 1970 and 1946, it wasn't super uncommon for 17-19 year-old women to be married and starting families. My grandma had my mom when she was 17 (with her husband), and my mom got pregnant with me on her honeymoon (at 19).

A couple of anecdotal examples obviously don't tell the whole story, but I do wonder if the nature of the families created from those teen pregnancies is a little different today than what it was 40-60 years ago. Also, data discussing where the teen pregnancy rate was in relation to the overall birth rate would be useful, since that varies with the economy, major events, etc. (like WWII). If the rate is rising while the overall birth rate is falling, that could be meaningful.

Lots of teens having children here, the poorer the culture the quicker they multiply....
