Ah fuck. Christopher Hitchens just Died.

Hitchens the war-monger

So Hitch memorized some yeats and that somehow cancels out the million or so dead Iraqi civilians, not to mention all the dead American soldiers, who died in the name of corporate profits? Hitchens knew enough about history to know that Iraq was never going to be some cakewalk; he must have been aware that no country enjoys being occupied by a foreign army. Also, he must have been aware of the possibility for very serous sectarian violence. But he supported it anyway, and got paid well to do it. I’m sure there are plenty of right wingers who know a lot about literature, poetry, and philosophy, but that doesn’t make their views any more humane. Seriously, imagine if one of the wall street banksters (Blankfein or Dimon) went to one of the protests and mic checked some Baudelaire in the original French? The rubes might be impressed, but that doesn’t change the fact they want to fuck us all and ruin the lives of millions so they can have more money. Just like it doesn’t change the fact that Hitchens was very well read but that didn’t stop him from cheering on mass murder.
Again, what is “anti-authoritarian” about supporting the mass slaughter of civilians so Bush Jr. can think he’s finally making daddy happy and Cheney can make his friends rich?

A whole lot of stupid trolling
Since all six of your newbie-ass posts are on this thread trolling to pick a fight in the exact same style of the Westboro Baptist church assholes, you can be assured that not a single one of us here who read this thread would go any further than your first post.

Anyway, if you REALLY wanted to make people who cared about Hitch listen to your stupid message, you'd try over at the Hammer forums instead of our little webmaster forum.

Now go fuck yourself Trollhole.

Famous journalist and author Christopher Hitchens has lost his battle against Esophageal Cancer. The 62-year-old atheist and intellectual passed away Thursday at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is survived by wife Carol Blue and kids Alexander, Sophia and Antonia, the first two by ex-wife Eleni Meleagrou. Source for this article: Journalist and public intellectual Christopher Hitchens, 62, dies. This was a horrible news. I disagreed with him on a great number of things but there's no denying that he had a brilliant mind and was extraordinarily articulate. We will all die but I think what's important is that when you were able to live life to the fullest like Hitchens.

Cancer is scary shit. Hitchens looked good for his age in his early fifties IMO. When I first saw his photo in the Vanity Fair story announcing his condition, it was shocking.

I found myself morbidly curious about his excessive drinking habits. The guy lived for downing Johnny Walker Black. He was unapologetic about it.

It was the same deal with Carl Sagan who also died from pneumonia during his battle with cancer. The guy looked like a corpse near the end which was tough to look at after watching him during his prime in the Cosmos series.

It took brass balls to stand up to the religious establishment like Hitch did. I respect his perseverance and moral compass. The problem with such crusading is the resentment that went along with it. His anger did more to hurt himself than religious fundamentalists. Either side was arguing at a brick wall.
