I understand your yuppie frustration...people from idaho trying act like they are hip to NYC, Ha! My area dosent have the yuppies but when school is in session, the CU brats try to come around and take over shit, but I crash their parties and fuck the few fine chicks that actually goto that school:stonedsmilie:

I went to Columbia University before I dropped out. That area is shit. Surrounded by Harlem. Such a pain in the ass to go through at night on the train on the weekend, so many black and spanish guys around that look like they are going to turn you out just for being in their area. Unless you are sporting some CU apparel, then no one even looks at you.

whoah whoah

What are you talking about man? Harlem isnt dangerous anymore LOL, this isnt 1991. Harlem is like Disneyland now, with all the economic development going on and the yuppies moving there. Did you ever actually go into Harlem?

I get vexed when people say ohh "CU is around Harlem I dont think its safe".You're from BK, if you CU was around Brownsville then people would have legitimate concerns haha

The actual CU Morninside Heights are is gorgeous very well kept , dont know what ya talking about there, if you get scared ridin the train up there i dont know what to tell ya LOL.

The reason the some of the local people give you looks is because of the gentrification thats happening, yuppies are starting to move in the area, rent prices are skyrocketing and families are being forced out, so when they see a white people there is gonan be some dirty looks and it pretty much stops there.

Sincerely,
One of the "black guys":)

When 2 of my irish friends visited NY they decided to check out Harlem, see what all the fuss was about.
When they came out of the subway station a cop car immediately picked them up and drove them a couple of blocks away because 'it wouldn't be safe for irish guys to go strolling around'

They were reallt disappointed they didn't get to see anything.
that was around 2000 though, has it changed a lot since then?

LOL! Sounds like going to the zoo or something... what did they really expect to see there? Either they will walk around and no one will even notice them - as what commonly happens in a busy city, or they'll get approached by a group of locals wondering why two tourists from Ireland and touring that part of town at that time of night. So, either nothing will happen (boring), or they may cause a disturbance (scary). I doubt anything would have happened.

zooyork, Harlem is changing but there's still lots of areas that are pretty fucked up. it's gonna be a while before the yuppies make the area significantly better. they might bitch and moan, but they dont rob each other. either way Id rather spend a night in harlem than spend the night at the bedford stuyvesant projects here in brooklyn

Jon I might go AdTech, dont know yet if I'll be around.
