Lack of sleep causes all sorts of health problems. Google it, you'll be surprised.

If you're young you can get away with it to a degree.

Keep in mind, what Affaholic said is right on... when you're sleep deprived, it takes you longer to think and your work quality most likely suffers.

I don't see what someone could be doing to stay up 3 days in a row. I could see if you're trying to monetize on something like MJ's passing, you have a limited window to beat the other guys to it, and you pull an all nighter and work overtime to get your adcopy out the door.

But if you're doing the usual work, theres no need to be doing that.

If you're working that hard, hire an employee to help with the workload. There are mundane tasks that can probably be handed down to someone for $400 a week.

2am to 8am on weekdays. The employee comes over at 10 so gotta be up and ready by 9:30.

Weekends I'll stay out smashed till 6 am on Fri, saturday, crash all day sunday. Woo

I love to sleep. But lately its been 1-2am to bed and 6am out of bed. When I feel like shit - I have a couple sleep in days. Nice cup of coffee in the morning is all the jump start I need.
I know people that get by with 4 hours of sleep all the time. I cant do that yet.

up for 4 days, sleep for 15 hours [repeat]

ok - no - not normally ... generally pass out at 3-5ish get up at 9.

Depriving yourself of sleep can be pretty detrimental to your health but everyone is different. I used to think that getting less than 7 hours a night was terrible for you because that is what I had read and been told for as long as I can remember.
Then I went and lived in Japan on two separate occasions; the Japanese do not subscribe to the Western views of what defines healthy sleep patterns. Almost everyone I met slept less than 6 hours a night and most considered anything more than 5 to be wasteful. This was true for everyone from college students, who have about twice as much work to do as the typical American university student, to businessmen and housewives.
What I found to be most interesting was that we associate lack of sleep with poor health and loss of productivity among many other others. Yet we, as a country, acknowledge the people of Japan to be among the healthiest and most productive in the world. You might rightly argue that the greater life expectancy and lower levels of health problems are largely due to diet and exercise (I wholeheartedly believe it is).
My point is that, in my view, the country serves as one huge case study which highlights the fact that you should not worry too much about the timing and quantity of sleep you get. Do what you feel is necessary and make sure that you fuel your body properly - you will do just fine!:angrysoapbox_sml:

bed around 1am to 5am.. wake up from 9am to 12pm ... usually sleep a full 8 hours.. just on different schedule.

To stay awake nothing beats this:

Have a loud 2 year old who wakes up the entire house with her at 6-7am every day.

Ever wake up to Blues Clues blasting on your tv? If that isnt torture I don't know what is. Gets my ass up out of bed and working though!

Have you gone through the Barney phase yet, that's a fun one!

Bed 5a-6a up at 11am-12noon.

I have 3 kids and a wife who is a saint (let's me sleep as much and whenever I want)

However much sleep I get I always seem to wake up tried and be pretty tired througout the day. Maybe I have diabetes :) But usually I sleep at 11 and wake up at 7. If I worked full time in AM I would sleep at 3-4am and wake up at 12 because I work much better in the early hours.

I dunno why, but im most productive after 10-11pm and in the morning. between midday-noon I just dont get shit done...

sleep: 2am-11am
