I'm not really a newbie and to be honest I don't know if this is actually the best place to publish this thread, but i have to ask some of you what you feel about people that make money with affiliate sales by writing something on Hubpages and plugging in their affiliate links. Honestly, I never dived into having my own website and back in the days I used article marketing to advertise my affiliate links. I still make some money with Squidoo/Amazon. but this is something I did back in 2009. I'm wondering if you guys think it's a big idea to even bother with article marketing.

It still works, granted that it is a little harder now than it was back then due to more competition as well as consumers that are getting smarter and recognizing aff links.

If your willing to put in the time and effort (alot) then you'll see returns. But IMO there are many other easier ventures out there

Dude, if you have any suggestions let me know. I just want to see how far I can go without having to build my own website right now. Obviously, later on I think it will be a better idea to have my own website because it's more sustainable, but I just want to try without one right now.

I've done a few G's adding affiliate links to similar sites. It just sucks building up something that's out of your control. You could be milking the cow for a little bit then wake up the next morning wondering what you're going to do cause your site got banned for something stupid.

I don't think it's a good idea. Put all your efforts on your own site. Hubpages will never give FULL control and account could be banned at anytime. Earning money from it through affiliates takes a lot of time. But you could use it for supporting your site like getting backlinking and networking.
