A question about E-mail spam

Quick question; If e-mail spam is illegal, why is legal for all these credit card companies, banks and other retailers to fill my physical mail box with junk mail "Spam" on a daily basis?

Anyone know?

I've heard spammers say they specifically download the opt-out lists from affiliate programs and spam them..

Exactly, I can't think of a better crowd to spam than the idiots who read the whole spam and then clicked a "remove me" url or replied "unsubscribe". That's a wet dream.

Was just wondering! Between the E-mail spam and mail spam I dont know which is worse. My mail box is stuffed every day. I get shit in the mail for domain renewals every day from companies I have never delt with :?

I think if our government in the USA is going to make e-mail spam a crime they should also make postal spam a crime.

You know. You can not give a shit what the email says, scroll to the bottom and click the 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom. You don't got to read it to unsubscribe.

My junkmail went from 70 a day to 5 or 6 this way.

Well.. here's a loophole in spam that a lot of people may be pissed about me saying, but if you spam off of an offshore server that is not located in your area of business, and it is not illegal to spam in that country/location, then you will not get into any legal trouble within your area of operations.

So for an example, if you spammed from a server located in Malaysia and you are based in the US, as long as you followed the Malaysian spam laws (if there are any) then you are fine.
