A Case For Relevancy in an Arguably Irrelevant Community

@okuma

these books you recommended

if you're selling face to face kenrick cleveland is a fkn must
unconcious persuasion
max persuasion
objection mastery

are these good for door to door sales? i will doing that soon

door to door sales is hard work, but yes the course unconcious persuasion might give you a shot at gaining enough rapport with the unconcious hello to get more than a one liner in.

objection mastery would help too, i believe it was that course that he mentioned a tv company increased their conversion rate by 15% or something like that by answer the objection, "were not interested" with "and that's exactly why you should sign up today". people would open the door like wtf is that supposed to mean... then they ask if they'd ever want sub tv ever and most reply with yes. "so that's why you should buy today because prices are only going to go up from today"

that being said, if you can get into an actual conversation with someone, objection mastery will kill it for you.

I understand there are privileged members. And I have already addressed briefly the fact that information is guarded in this industry. I think that by establishing an open forum intended for young or new business founders, it would encourage newcomers to collaborate with one another, reduce the volume of garbage posts (if only slightly), and still maintain the integrity of "veteran-level" knowledge while progressing the quality of the wicked fire membership. Bottom feeders are near useless without mentorship but can leran more by networking with their peers and exchanging lessons learned in a community that would otherwise yawn at the novice-level learning progression.

This is that open form. But most newcomers are one or several:
1- Lazy
2- Out of touch with reality
3- Have terrible business ideas
4- Don't have a clue about shit

Plenty of newcomes here, come, collaborate and work together. The ones that generally get good connections and collaborate do so because they are none of the 4 above. They do so by looking at who knows what, and establishing personal business relationships.

You are asking for what already exists because you can't see it.

You are asking for what already exists because you can't see it.

What I believe to be true about this community is that there are plenty of opportunities to network among related industries. Your definition of what exists here and my definition seem to be the same. Let me clear up the misunderstanding.

In 2007, I would have argued with this proposal, "Why create something broad? We are an affiliate marketing forum, let's stick to the subject." But it's 2012, and now the most beneficial information in this industry is shared between those willing to make the connections. So if we aren't sharing relevant information on this forum anymore, then all we are is a networking tool.

If I'm a freelance web designer, a startup enthusiast, an internet marketer, or any related position in internet business, and I'm new, I would benefit from making connections at WickedFire, the same way many of us already have. However, WickedFire is tailored to internet marketing - and it should stay that way - but why not open a sub-forum for the related professionals to share non-IM insight that still adds value for internet marketers? We have a design and developer section, but why not bring it outward at the macro level, and cover internet business as a whole? And I'm not saying that we should aim to attract that audience. They're already here. Let's just give them a home.

This might come off a little "white knight", and this is an awful lot of justification for a simple proposal. But I've seen a lot of members with different colored hats, and I'll continue to argue that organizing a sub-forum to suit a common ground would be more beneficial than relying on new joins to reach out on their own. There is nothing wrong with a little encouragement (by way of organization) for the sake of strengthening a community.

The issue with that is a majority of us would prefer to keep solid marketing advice off of a public forum.

Really, all it takes is a pm. Ice and I had never spoken privately less than a week ago, he reached out and I freely helped give him a head start on a project be was starting. Reciprocity is a hell of a drug man.

The problem is you're focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they ...are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. So maybe you could use the few brain cells you have and take advantage of the knowledge I have given you now. Good luck.

If you guys do one thing, grab as much Dan Kennedy shit as you can possibly find, the dude is brilliant.

He's like a Grandpa to me, a really bad ass Grandpa who's studied marketing his entire life and can condense 40 years of business knowledge down to a a dozen or so books/courses.
