what deal with you take?

25% of one years membership

or 10% of all subscription payments for life.

Niche is long term ish, similar to web hosting. You have no intention of leaving the niche or flipping the site.

Is this a product you're selling or planning to buy?

It's simple maths, if you plan to stay with them for a year then option one. If you plan to stay with them a minimum of three years or buy more than one product - second option it is.

get more data about their customers, what %s stay for for 1,2,3 years and make an informed decision.. long term, although sounds great in theory if you're not greedy, is not always the correct choice.

I'll have to see what the stick rate of customers are like.. 10% monthly is 10% annual (obviously), it's still shit. A customer would have to stay for 2.5 years for me to get enough remuneration for that lead, and that's unlikely to happen. I should really get way more remuneration than 10%, at least 30% annual like webhosts/cloud storage/antivirus and other software intangible services do.

But I have a feeling this niche has a low dropout rate, hence why they all have monthly plans, and pay comission monthly.

I guess I have to just jack up my site, and make it an authority and super credible, so I can get these repeat customers coming back to the review site and resignup to a new service.

Though the biggest bitch of them all is that the best service (and the one I use) doesn't offer affiliates. I emailed them and asked, but got a firm negative. That's the thing with truly good services, they don't need affiliates they're so good they grow through word of mouth.

I'm selling as an affiliate. I refer customers to service providers.

25% - More cash upfront. Use the cash and reinvest in a new product/more customers to this product.

should have mentioned, it's not really a choice to be honest. They all offer 10% monthly. So this thread is entirely speculative.

I agree that it all comes down to the retention rate for customers. If its a niche/company that attracts repeat customers and you plan on promoting them for more than a year, definitely go for the plan that offers residual income on your initial referral.
