Cool video of Markus Frind from PlentyofFish on the Today Show.

For those of you who don't know the story last year he was claiming to make $10,000 a day and a lot of people didn't believe him. Since then he's been in the Wall Street Journal and his site has is one of the top dating sites in the US, #1 in Canada (pretty good considering the sites beating him, True & Singlesnet, have had shitloads of affiliate traffic and millions of dollars of advertising spent promoting themselves. In the recent WSJ article he said he was pulling $5-$10 million a year now.

I love how they gaze into each others eyes at the end of it...

Match making is handled wif t3h s3rv3r!?

god damn he is the most arrogant person on earth. must have been bullied a lot in school.

The only video I ever saw him in was where he was on a panel with Drew Curtis (of Fark.com), the founder of SuicideGirls, and several other web entrepreneurs and he was a total MOUSE. Barely spoke a word, seemed very uncomfortable.

hmm that vid won't play for me...
i did see that old interview with marcus where he talks about bank teller's thinking he is some sort of criminal when he tried to cash one of those 900k checks.
as far as faking it goes, i have heard from numerous sources that he did indeed scrape female profiles for quite a while to maintain a facade of action and interest in his site until it really took off.

I think it was really hard to find girls headshots and pictures on internet back then so I don't know abt that..

Today you can just go to myspace and steal as many pictures as you want!

Yeah and that's really smart apartment, my bathroom is bigger, my car has bigger lcd and I have bigger dick

how else do you start a dating site, i dont fault him for scraping, no other option really.

Im shocked that a website designed so poorly with such a crappy layout can be so popular, who are the morons using this site?

I'm one of the Morons.

I originally joined to see how the site worked and if I could replicate it, a bit of research showed that the guy has a much better technical knowledge than I could ever hope to gain so I dropped the idea.

I left my profile up and have met a few girls from it, even taken a couple of them home ................. not to meet the parents though :D

The thing I like about it is that it's no fuss, doesn't offer anything it doesnt provide and doesnt hit you up for money for "premium services" with every click.

Sure the guys a geek but he's fucking loaded, his apartments probably paid off. He probably changed the algorythm so all women came to his profile & he scored his missus.

Any how I recently started a dating site I had on the back burner, guess what no one was joining until I put up a few fake profiles now its starting to take off. I used Plentyoffish for inspiration .... I know my site will get up there one day, maybe I need to scrape a bit harder though ...
