Threads like this are the reason i started my own hosting company many years ago, because frankly most hosts out there are just plain awful

6 hours with ixhosting. But my biggest problem was with godaddy, for few weeks the time to first byte on pages with php includes was from 5 to 120 seconds. Then I was moved to new server and it was OK.

very bad performance and slowness.

Back in the earlier days of VPS, when Virtuozzo was really the only game in town, there was this huge fault that cascaded, and I had 4 days of downtime. I won't mention the host, as it wasn't their fault, but rather a Parallels bugs. I gave them permission to take the VM for research, and they released a version patch several days later.

That's often how bugs are found. Somebody has to get screwed first!

I had backups, so it wasn't a big deal. Just annoying.

what's your record?

Never so long and usually not long enough to notice. Though I get a little polite email from my host company even when the site is down for a few minutes. I don't tolerate long down time from my host and have no problem moving to a site that will give me almost perfect uptime. There no excuse. They're the hosting professionals? Then I expect professional behavior.
