Its official Google Offers is the next Groupon Clone
Here we are then! The news has been officially released, Google are 100%
planning to launch a direct competitor to group buying giant Groupon!
Googles answer to Groupon will be appropriate named 'Google Offers' which
is the much anticipated competitor to Groupon!
It only launched today and is the current buzz topic of the internet. It
has currently gone live over at Google.com/Offers , it will start with
just a simple beta program with the company's founding citys are to be
Portland, Oregon and as Google are based just outside San Francisco in
Mountain View, California. You wouldn’t they think that would leave either
San Jose or San Francisco out would you? In fact its the first point of
call for the search engine giant to launch there Groupon competitor.
They also launch in New York City too.
Google did try and buy Groupon and had a $6billion USD offer turned down
which I think was partly stock and rumoured around $2.5 Billion USD in
cash. You would think that maybe any one who turned that down would be
stupid but Groupon are making some serious amounts of cash right now with
an estimated value of $25billion USD.
Google Offers will have many advantages over Groupon though, think about
it this way.. Google have many internet propertys, including Youtube and
Gmail and Android phones, in our last article we mentioned that Sky Fire
the Google Android alternative web browsing application had recently
integrated Groupons features, think about it again.... You need to
download Sky Fire first on the Andorid platform, with Google owning the
platform they can integrate a Google offers application directly into the
mobiles system, so it comes instantly on all mobile phones. The reason why
Groupon is so valuable is because it has millions of email address by
location and it can target you with new products, well guess what? With
Google owning Gmail they instantly have access to more people than Groupon
will ever have right? Also think about this, Google also own Youtube, the
internets most popular video website, did you know that 74 Million people
buy online every single day? 113 million people watch online videos,
Google has this market owned! They literally own the market, instantly!
Google can now incorporate advertising into every single youtube video
that is being watched promoting you to buy deals with Google offers, they
can also target you with advertising though the google search engine,
adwords has been influential for Groupons success, when Groupon first
launched they purchased millions of dollars worth of advertising with
Google adwords, now Google has developed its own Groupon clone they know
exactly what keywords people use to find Groupons deals and if they go
ahead with them, as they have all the statistics with Google analytics,
they know exactly what search keywords people type in to find Groupon,
what works, what doesn’t, Google can now seriously corner the market here.
How Groupon works is that they call company’s, they call them out of the
blue and offer them a service or they email them and promote explain how
they can help them with marketing. The thing is when potential customers
get the call and someone on the phone says 'Im calling from Groupon' the
business owner needs to check them out, make sure there legit, ask a few
questions to the Groupon telesales marketer, now when some one says on the
phone 'I'm calling from Google' its not exactly the same response, unless
you have been living in a box for the last 10 years you know who Google
are, what there all about, what they do and you would be stupid to say 'I
dont want to work with you'
