“Single?” Lawn Signs Conquer the American Landscape

Good read. Interesting concept that's wide open, but I would think you could get yourself in some legal trouble possibly.

How about this nugget in the article...

To find the answer, I decided that I wasn’t done with my WHOIS search. Back when I was cracking into companies in New York, I discovered a tried and true trick for getting a CEO’s cell phone number: historical WHOIS records. Often, the original registrant of a company’s domain name is its founder. As such, it’s common for the founder’s personal contact information to exist at some point in the WHOIS database. As the company grows, they change the record, but by that time (often unbeknownst to them) companies like domaintools have already saved the old information in their archive.

An old dog learns a new trick.

Pretty good investigative work on the authors part and an interesting business.

Fascinating

Great read.

I hate those signs, but I've always been curious about the ROI on them.

A woman was ticketed earlier this year for putting them out in public right of ways. She was reportedly getting paid $1 per sign and had done between 250 and 300 of them. She ended up with a $10 fine. Not a horrible deal.

All you do is buy the bandit signs and hire a person from craigslist to put up the signs. Of course, most municipalities have laws against the posting of the signs. I used to be involved in "the right one" organization.

There is an organization (causs.org) that is somewhat organized that will report you and also take your signs down in a heartbeat. There are a lot of people in the united states that hate "bandit signs".

Great read. I haven't seen any signs like that, but what a concept!
