There is going to be a Greek Orthodox church built ON the site of Ground Zero, and Saint Paul's Chapel, an Episcopal church right across the street from Ground Zero. New York is full of religious institutions, why do we honestly give a shit about this one.

I care about it because Islam is the only religion/cult where you can be executed if you want to leave (in Iran). I guess you have to let them build it there, but it's like 4chan when they get an article written about them in newsweek or something. They don't want the noobs there, so they're gonna setup annoying background music and have lots of gore threads. Lots of countries in Europe have mostly 100% religious freedom, but Islamic extremism is kept out.
It is insensitive plain and simple to the people of New York . My wife and Brother in law were both blocks away from the Towers when it happened and both are still impacted to this day . It is pretty much a slap in the face or a big fuck you to anyone involved .
This, basically. Sure, the libnuts will say the mosque developers aren't extremists(although even that's debatable), but this is pretty much how it looks to the average American.
The fact that the mosque developers are still trying to ram this plan through given the resistance is very illuminating.

And honestly if they want to take this hoopla to the next level, they should build a "God Mall" or some shit right by the site, basically a big mall-like building where various religious groups can rent out their chapel, mosque, synagogue, temples, and what have you space in this 'mall' of multiple religions.
lol. Course to keep it level they'd have to no more than x number of units to any major religious group (ie: so you don't have the entire place filled with every denomination of christianity you can think of).

I'd be more concerned if the US itself were already some kind of religious republic basing everything from adultery to blasphemy as a crime rewarded some kind of physical punishment. We're at a higher chance of christian corruption than we are of islamic ones in terms of government laws.
Its bad enough that we got Warriors for Christ whose main goal is to raise their children as political leaders to infiltrate the legal system so that they can make sure that non-christians stay out of the government. So while the US focuses their attention on a religious group that only 14% of us prior to 9/11 thought intended for violence, we're getting lubed up for a JesusFreak takeover.
I have Muslim friends, as well as Jewish friends. They are assholes (read = non libertarian) everywhere on any religions but there are good guys too. Percentage may vary.
