Starting Your Own CPV Network

Not if its a closed network and its only popping scareware. I can think of a bunch of other similar examples where being closed would be better.

You think so?

My reasoning is that it would be an astronomical task to tweak successful campaigns for all your various urls/niches/keywords. No doubt it would be good to have internal campaigns running for yourself, but given that you wouldn't have time to get successful campaigns running on the possibly millions of urls overall I say running a closed network would mean you'd be leaving lots of money on the table.

Obviously, the best thing would be to have internal campaigns running on a public network. That way you're maximizing profit by running campaigns instead of just selling pops and you're not leaving money on the table since you're still selling pops.

But honestly, I don't think you'd have time to manage internal campaigns once you started your own network. I'd imagine you would have to deal with alot of shit on a daily basis:D

1. Create your own toolbar.
2. Get people to download your toolbar.
3. ?????
4. Profit!

Truthfully, this has been the most sound advice in this thread. Don't listen to stick2Herbs as he is 15 (i think?) There are no handouts here. If you habitually invest into advertising your publishing properties (i.e toolbar in this case) on your CPA networks then you can't fail in the long term, especially when you compare this kind of asset to email lists (adware uninstalls WAY < email opt-outs). Fund your future network IO's on the contingency that your userbase is inherently monetizable (which it is if you reach each individual at the point of relevance with the right offer in the right vertical). You would need about a thousand benjamins to get started with creating your adware properties and for offer syndication (i can attest for this being true for the latter). As for your actual platform, I would recommend cold calling/emailing your favorite PPV network to white label for private use. You'd be surprised when/if they are actually receptive

So you think its practical to make your own network, and then close it up completely and fully monetize on that traffic?

Thats absolutely fucking retarded. Why doesn't google do that? Because theres to many verticals to tackle it from. Essentially it would be like trying to fully monetize every single keyword on google. You think one person can achieve that? Make more from monetizing every single keyword (url) than selling advertising to other people. An average campaign for me takes a few days to tweak into profitability.

You're a fucking idiot if you think that having a private CPV network would be more profitable than having a public network.

please dude stop posting about what you dont understand as if it were fact

I don't know what stick2herbs is going on abouts.

If you cap the pop ups per user you shouldn't have many opt-outs/uninstalls like Toker said.

As for how much capital? You have to account for 3 things: development, marketing, and maintenance/upkeep. Your best bet would be to bring in a developer as a partner (unless you're dullspace ballin at Morgan Chase) to take care of the first, and maintenance is pretty much your hosting bill. Your marketing budget is what you need to calculate: how many users do you have to acquire before your monthly upkeep is offset by the revenue generated. Cuz after that it's just reinvesting profits into acquiring more users (and more servers when needed).

I'm sure there's some guys here who could pull this shit off. You'd need some mad outsourcing skills cause it's going to be pretty tough for a one man team to keep up with the changes in AM while maintaining and growing a CPV network.

Unless that one man is Birdman.

Now moar asian tits plz.

You can check out the source code for Firefox xpi extensions just by opening up the xpi as a folder and looking at the code, so you could look at the iWon toolbar or some other toolbar's source code to start. With Chrome I think it's the same way, and I'm not sure for Safari. With IE it's more difficult, I'd recommend paying someone else to do that for you once you have a Firefox version that they can port.

Sorry guys, I'm a retarded 15 year old that recently got a little to cocky due to some minor success. As sarcastic as this may sound, I mean this truthfully.

I'm truly sorry, and I'll shut my trap now.

No problem bro, I saw your post in the FB thread and am happy that you're seeing early success.Although I got two things to say:

1. Virtuously stating your opinion without attacking anyone will lower the chance of your exposure to gyrating penises.
2. On that point, you should probably obfuscate your age from your last post and wherever else I found it before lest you want to publically be part of the Gay Webmasters community (I'm only half joking)

Step 1 - find server company with powerful ass servers that won't mind continuously getting reports about spyware and adware querying their IP's 24 hours a day, every day, from multiple states and/or countries.

Just sayin'

Nah Step 1 - Finally use that home server for something :D

Now the only one that can stop me is Comcast. But since they're the most highly rated and understanding company in the world when it comes to customer service, i think i'm in the clear

My Comcast guy always walk in with his shoes on. Their advertorial is Fake.

Do you know this? I think you're underestimating how many installs get killed solely by anti-virus software.

if you start out starting a thread on WF asking for available software then it's unlikely you'll get it off the ground. good luck bro

if you do manage it, scrape each install facebook and try and get proper demographics, would be golddust for targeting. kthx bye

its overly priced code signing so you can put some 3rd party stickers on your toolbar / app download page

I gotta say, they have a brilliant fucking business model.

1. Design logo
2. Partner with some big names and let them use the logo for free claiming it will increase their credibility and improve perception from customers
3. Charge others to license it from you and do nothing else of value
4. ???
5. PROFIT!!!
